Spiritual gain vs. Monetary gain: this is a dilemma that has been at the core of heated discussions and even self-doubt for so many artists and music business insiders. Kurtis was previously known as Triple Thr33, actually decided it was about time to go by his actual name instead, so he started making music as Kurtis Hoppie. The artist struck up a friendship with Derek Minor, and the two went on to tour on the “It’s Not A Game tour, where another artist, Canon, also joined them. This was yet another faithful encounter as Canon and Kurtis went on to create a spicy collaborative song titled “Space Dawgs.” This song was a massive hit, not only hitting almost two million streams on Spotify but going viral on TikTok with over 36 million plays! Kurtis continued to drop exciting tracks, including the well-received song “Vegan Burgers.” This track is a love song, which Kurtis dedicated to his wife. This spontaneous and charming song is fun, energetic, memorable, and personal. Not surprisingly, the track made it to the top of the Christian charts, remaining for 14 weeks in the Christian Billboard charts and making it to the top 3 for five consecutive weeks. The song was also featured on Kurtis’ EP, “Problem Child.” The passion and spontaneity that drive the songs on this EP are indeed a milestone in his career. Kurtis is a true undisputed pro when channelling some of the best modern Christian hip-hop influences and beyond.
Kurtis has a very inspirational story. He showed the world that he became successful not by following a drive to make money and become a superstar but by simply following his heart and reaching out to people with his genuine passion and willingness to spread his faith in Jesus Christ.
