0Who is J. Vance?
Rising Alabama artist J.Vance is a independent artist with an unique sound. With witty metaphors and melodic story-lines he has became one of the rising stars in the state of Alabama. J.Vance started out engineering his own music in 2008. His fanbase started growing once he began to constantly top the charts on jam glue. After releasing his first mixtape, Vance years later with DJ New Era in 2017. J.Vance began gaining major notoriety. J.Vance’s latest release PainUary is a 8-song project dedicated to his brother Luh Cray who passed away in 2021 just weeks after losing his father. He began headlining and opening up shows with major artist at colleges and venues across the southern region. Since then, J.Vance has gained notice in the music industry from icons along with the 85 South Show and many others.
Hype: Where you from and when did you first fall in love with hip-hop?
I was born in Mississippi but I’ve spent majority of my life in Alabama from the 205 to the 256.
Hype: Who are your musical inspirations and influences?
Lil Wayne.
Hype: Tell me what’s the music scene like for an Alabama artist, what separates y’all from everyone else?
The music scene on fire right now, one thing i’ll say is that our punchlines & metaphors are crazy!
Hype: What made you pursue music as a passion?
This is the path God put me on! I feel like i’m nowhere near my peak but the impact I’ve made on the people around me is priceless!
Hype: It’s been five years since the release of your first project, Vance. What progress have you made in 5 years within your journey? Where you going in the next 5 years?
I released singles in between to get a feel of my audience more. I never stopped recording , I have a catalogue currently over 100 songs at the moment. I’m just trying to find me a team to build with and take it to the next level. Within the next 5 years, I plan on being a icon in the music industry. It will unfold how it’s suppose to. I’ve crossed paths with some icons in the game and i’m just soaking in the game.
Hype: You just released a project last Friday titled, PainUary, what’s the inspiration behind of title and how are you healing that pain?
PainUary was released on my brother birthday who passed away that was also losing my dad weeks later after my first 2 months of the year was tough. January didn’t feel like January , and my birthday in February didn’t feel the same either. PainUary.
Hype: What can we expect to hear and see for this project?
Every song has a different feel. It will definitely be motivation for anybody who doing it for somebody who got angels. Also expect to hear some wordplay you never heard before! My originality keep me going.
Hype: What’s next for you?
I have my biggest feature to date dropping end of March or Early April.
