Bowling For Soup’s Jaret Reddick On The Band’s New Album, His Recent Solo Album, Writing, Future Plans, Van Halen & More

Texas pop-punk pioneers Bowling For Soup recently announced that they are hitting the road this summer for the Back For The Attack Tour with co-headliners Less Than Jake and The Aquabats and openers Mom Rock. The tour kicks off June 22, 2022 in Norfolk, VA and will wrap on July 9, 2022 in Newport KY. The fun-loving foursome will be touring in support of their eagerly awaited new album Pop Drunk Snot Bread, which is set for release on April 22, 2022 via Brando / Que-So Records. Recorded in September 2021 in the Pocono Mountains with longtime collaborator Linus Of Hollywood handling production duties alongside frontman Jaret Reddick, the band’s 11th record features the global hit “Alexa Bliss” (which recently passed 4.2 million views on YouTube alone), last year’s smash “Getting Old Sucks (But Everybody’s Doing It),” “Killin’ ‘Em With Kindness” and the new single “I Wanna Be Brad Pitt.”

2022 has also seen the release of Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick’s debut country album, Just Woke Up. Considered a sincere love letter to Texas, Just Woke Up aims to pay homage to the greats that came before Reddick, while giving a refreshing, unique spin on the genre. The album features some special guests, including Frank Turner (on “Drunk As It Takes”), Uncle Kracker (“Way More Country”), Descendents’ Stephen Egerton (on “Natalie”) and The Departed’s Cody Canada (on “You And Beer”). The full-length studio album also includes country-style re-workings of 2 of Bowling For Soup’s most popular songs, “Ohio (Come Back To Texas)” and “The Bitch Song.

On April 7, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jaret Reddick via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about his latest recordings, future plans, touring the UK alongside Lit, Van Halen and a few other topics of interest. More on Reddick and Bowling For Soup — which also includes guitarist Chris Burney, bassist Rob Felicetti and drummer Gary Wiseman — can be found here, here and here.
