Kira Graves Explores the Idea of Positive Psychology in the Music Industry

Over the years, psychology has been used as a means of elevating the mood of individuals and showing them the ramifications of their behaviors. Kira Graves believes that we are constantly reminded that one can decide to flourish or survive- it all depends on your actions, decisions, and intuitions. Psychologists are currently leveraging the principles of positive psychology to boost one’s happiness, improve the nature of relationships, and show others how to use their strengths to stand out in any work setting.

Kira Graves is an entrepreneur, psychologist, and leadership coach who has traveled the world. She is also the founder of Kira Graves Consulting, a business that offers psychological counseling and mentorship services to diverse groups of clients in the population. A particular cohort of clients that Kira Graves has been interacting with are entertainers, more specifically, musicians. These creatives go through many challenges, and most of them will not admit that giving up is an easier option to consider. She has been advocating for the utilization of principles of positive psychology to bolster the career of musicians.

The aim of positive psychology is to not only catalyze changes in the mindset of individuals from the preoccupation with dealing with issues in their lives but to also show them that they can use their best qualities to build a life that actualizes their ambitions. Kira Graves points out that positive psychology teaches us that humans are a mixture of both strengths and weaknesses, that no one has it all, and that no one lacks it all. It is okay to be incompetent at something but what matters is whether we can use our innate capabilities to forge a desirable growth path for ourselves.

Kira Graves knows that most musicians do not make enough money, others are struggling to deal with the reality that long-term record deals are becoming irrelevant and many more cannot get gigs to perform for their fans. She has also noticed that artists are trying to establish themselves on social media platforms without necessarily conceptualizing a strategy to be successful. However, musicians who are experiencing success are constantly investing in themselves and developing a growth mindset- they are implementing this important principle of positive psychology. Kira Graves suggests that by creating opportunities for learning and accomplishments, an artist is able to build their sense of professional competence while at the same time encouraging curiosity as to how they can become better. This is all done as they wait for that breakthrough. Indeed, the future remains unwritten for most of them. Anything can happen, and often, things can go wrong. The best contribution they can make toward their future is to prepare and savor the possibilities of what can be done in the present.

Kira Graves wants all upcoming musicians to understand positive emotions, as they can use this to create happiness in the present and hope for the future. She wants them to know their positive traits, individual traits, and intuitions. All aspects that can motivate them to be better in their respective niche, and possibly, make them the greatest entertainers of their generation.
