Multi-Faceted Industry Vet Tian Boothe Talks Latest Single ‘CP Original’
Tian Boothe is an award-winning American film director, producer, writer, musician, editor, and songwriter, known for Shattered Dream (2018), E.R. Compliance, and E.R. Emotional Release.
She was born in Jamaica West Indies and is of Caribbean and Syrian descent. Tian grew up in Jamaica where she attended Immaculate Conception Preparatory School and eventually Immaculate Conception High School. She completed high school with the help of tutors through homeschooling and eventually went on to pursue a career as a Software Engineer. After moving to the United States in 2013, she realized her heart desired to be in the Arts and went on to pursue her new career as a Filmmaker.
She is the niece of popular Jamaican vocalist, Ken Boothe and is the sister of music producer Jullian Boothe, best known as the manager of Amara La Negra and for his role in “Love & Hip Hop: Miami.”
Aside from her filmmaking and motherhood duties, Tian is stepping center stage as an artist as well, and we got her to weigh in on a few things:
Hi Tian, welcome to The Hype Magazine! How have you been?
Hi! I have been well, and I’m so excited to be interviewed by Hype Magazine!!! Thanks for having me!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single, “CP Original”?
“CP Original” is a song I wrote one afternoon after I saw a few photos of someone at Coachella. The outfit really appealed to me, and the lyrics started formulating in my thoughts while looking at the photos. I also made a music video for this single because I really wanted to have a little addition to express my enjoyment of the moment. I really look forward to sharing it with everyone. It is about how one fantasizes about someone and how they can just enjoy being by themselves thinking of all these situations. The song in itself and the video is very honest and specifically focuses on the attraction towards an individual. People hide their feelings often and I am one of those people so I really just wanted to express myself instead of just hiding behind the track and show different sides of my personality.
Did any event inspire you to write this song?
Yes, I was viewing people enjoying a live show from photos. So I wasn’t there but while looking at a few photos and videos of people who attended there was an outfit that was quite intriguing to me. Also it was really interesting to look at different friend groups enjoying different areas of the event even though they were all at one location. It reminded me of days when I would attend events and run into my different friend groups. It was so much fun I was always the person not dancing but instead observing for the entire night. So now that I’m older I enjoy dancing and imaging dancing to songs also. That night brought me the idea to write “CP Official.”
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Yes, there is definitely going to be a music video for “CP Original.” I just finished the process of filming and editing the music video. It will be available to watch on all platforms on May 27, 2022.
How were the recording and writing process?
I actually recorded this song at home and I wrote the song in the spur of the moment. The lyrics came to me all at once because I had something I needed to say and I didnt know how else to say how I felt.
This melody was not created by me. I got help with that from an African music composer. He did an amazing job with this!
I understand the song is going to also have a music video – did you originally take this in mind when creating the song?
The song was already recorded, and then I decided it was so sweet that it also needed a music video to go along with it. The music video will be out around May 27.
How does your directing background influence your music and the other way around?
My experience in directing introduced me to different cultures, people, and taught me how to be even more compassionate. It taught me to have a great work ethic and be open minded. I have been a director for a few years now and I have worked with a few production companies while working on projects or even other jobs. I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. My stories are a combination of what I have learned, people I have met, and what I have observed and the same goes for my music..
What role does LA play in your music?
Well just being able to live in such a place that emits artistic energy brings so much to my music. There is so much happening here and adding that to one’s regular life and responsibility brings everything to my music.
What have you learned from your experience sharing the set and stage with some of the biggest names in music and film?
I have worked with many amazing film and music artists.I have learned to appreciate people from different cultures and they have reminded me to sing, write about everything, and to never give up. Life lessons between some of these people has taught me to be proud of who I am. I have worked with so many excellent and talented individuals in some of my movies and I appreciate all the time and effort they put into my projects. They all taught me different things such as always be open-minded, grateful, to be understanding, and always to work hard.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! I am always creating new music! It’s always so exciting and unique.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
First, the music video is coming up around May 27, 2022, and then I have another song ready to drop at any moment even though I will not be the singer of this one. Any plans to hit the road?
Not right now. I am a full-time mother to a young child and he deserves all the love and attention right now at this age.

I am also still working on my film E.R. Emotional Release which stars myself and Cate Kessler.
