0Crobot’s Brandon Yeagley On The New “Feel This” Album, Future Plans, Probot, Touring & More
As praised by Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, Kerrang, BBC Radio, SiriusXM Octane, Loudwire and Guitar World alike, Crobot — as comprised of Brandon Yeagley [vocals], Chris Bishop [guitar], Tim Peugh [bass], and Dan Ryan [drums] — has just put out its fifth full-length studio album, Feel This. This one is a proper followup to 2019’s Top 10 Heatseekers album Motherbrain, which has over 30 million streams and counting; 21 million of those streams alone were for the goliath single “Low Life,” a Top 10 single at Active Rock radio. But in late 2019, COVID-19 began to circulate and plans to support Motherbrain long-term and a global basis had to go on hold. Ultimately, Bishop and Ryan hunkered down in Austin to jam and cut demos for new Crobot material, later sending ideas to Yeagley back in Pennsylvania. 2021 finally saw Crobot enter Orb Studios in Austin with producer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax).
Explained Brandon Yeagley of Feel This, which is now in stores: “Feel This is the record we’ve been wanting to do ever since we started. We’ve always thought of ourselves as a live act. When Jay Ruston described his process of recording, we were beyond excited about getting in and getting our hands dirty. It involved performing live as a unit and finishing all instruments on a song before moving on to the next. We recorded 16 songs in 21 days, which is a feat in itself.” Last year, as a tasteful preview to Feel This, Crobot had released The Rat Child EP, which featured some heavy-hitting special guests: Anthrax’s Frank Bello, Light The Torch’s Howard Jones, and Steel Panther’s Stix Zadinia.
On June 28, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Brandon Yeagley via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Feel This, we talked about band goals, future plans, influences and the similarly-named Dave Grohl project known as Probot. More Crobot can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
