LUH KEL: Born Loving It

Let’s hop right into this latest single / video, “BE THIS WAY” — Tell me about this particular track; how did it come to fruition?

The song “Be This Way” was formed from an argument from a former relationship.

Of course “BE THIS WAY” comes courtesy of your forthcoming LP, TURRAN— Any specific details; i.e. favorite selection(s), cameo appearance(s), etcetera, that you can reveal and / or divulge regarding upcoming said set at this point in time?

I don’t want to give too much out, but the most I can say is I really think people are going to understand me and really enjoy this project.

How then does TURRAN either differ and / or compare to previous entries?

Turran is different because I made sure I spoke the real me, and the part that I never showed other people.

As a songwriter, when you sit down to pen your lyrics where do you draw your inspiration from?

I usually freestyle in the studio with music up high and both headphones on. The music takes me anywhere I’m feeling at the moment.

Reflecting, tell me your whole inception into music — When did you become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for LUH KEL?

I’ve been interested in music for a long time. I think I really just was born loving it. It all began in summer camp. I did a talent show and got a whole lot of love.

Now you’re a native of St Louis, MO, correct? So growing up in the ‘Gateway to the West,’ who all did / do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?

I’m from St. Louis. I don’t really think I had musical influences other than Chris Brown or Michael Jackson.

In having said that, how do you classify your overall sound and / or style?

I just feel like it’s different. I try to take the music I like and just form it in my own way. When I record, I just say what comes to mind so it’s also a state of vulnerability.

What particular string of events actually led to your initial linking up with Jonny Shipes, and later signing with the Cinematic Music Group?

Really I just was posting music snippets and got a lot of traction and they hit me up.

To date, what has been your greatest career moment(s), at least thus far anyway?

My greatest moments were just spending time with my friends and the ones I love at all of my shows and out-of-town trips…I can’t say any certificate or anything because that’s not what I do this for. I do this to make my loved ones happy and take them from their original habitats.

What’s an average day like for you?

My average day would never be determined; it’s new every day.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans…

I love all my fans; I usually interact through direct messages or anything like that.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? And, why?

My favorite part about this line of work is moving the people. I love seeing how people react to certain pieces of my music. My least favorite is things that create drama and try to rain down on your positive image.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

I tell them don’t follow me and create their own path. Just trust in yourself and your vision. I saw I was going to be here before I actually got here.

Lastly, what’s next for LUH KEL?

I have a lot in store for the world. They just have to stay tuned…this is a big year!!
