Singer-Songwriter Deana Fai Makes Her Mark
If there is one word that indeed describes the essence of what Pop/Hip-Hop/RnB Artist Deana Fai has been doing for many years, it would be ‘inspiring’. She is single-handedly responsible for pushing the boundaries of what many people have tried before, but have utterly failed.
Where The Journey Began
Born in Orlando, Florida, but brought up in Hampton, Virginia, DeAna Fai developed a taste for music and an appetite for writing and vocally producing songs at a very tender age. She was exposed to music by her late aunt Rene, and ever since, DeAna Fai has not lost her insatiable thirst for singing and songwriting. During her years at Bethel High School, her song “City of Hope” aired on Radio Disney as an inspirational song to aid in building a support mechanism for children with cancer for the non-profit organization “City of Hope.”
DeAna Fai collaborated with other artists and music producers while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Science at Norfolk State University. Eventually her music played on local radio stations such as WNSB Hot 91.1 and WOWI 103 Jamz. It was during this time that she connected with industry professionals in music to include Alan Floyd, Beyonce’s Tour Manager for many years, and Thomas Taliaferro, a music producer who accumulated hit records with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Teddy Riley, Bobby Brown, Blackstreet and more. The networking and connections did not just stop here, DeAna Fai went on to collaborate with other music industry vets including the late Heavy D.
A Successful Career
In 2020, she was selected to participate in comedian Loni Love’s ‘Loni Love’s Quarantine Talent Show’ which was incredibly popular gaining 50,000 to 100,000 viewers on Instagram Live. Her remarkable and melodious rendition of Beyonce’s ‘Listen’ truly engaged the public which gave her much-needed attention to her range which also piqued interest because of her petite frame.
At a time when humanity faced its biggest crisis as of yet in the raging Covid-19 pandemic, she launched her own quarantine podcast titled ‘DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment’ which provided a major respite to the already gloomy public. This proved to be another hit that gave another dimension to DeAna Fai’s personality. She converted a tragedy into an opportunity that allowed aspiring talent to directly connect with their favorite celebrities, and a means for the celebrities to “receive their flowers,” engage with fans, connect and network with other entertainers that they may have not normally crossed paths in achieving other future business goals. It’s Time To Give Back
Giving had always been instilled in DeAna Fai since she was a child thanks to her parents Ervin and Barbara Faison, and her aunt who had a hand in shaping this humble artist and philanthropist. As an adult, DeAna Fai discovered a way to give something back to the community once again. She used the podcast’s first season finale to aid in raising money and spreading awareness for charities that cater to health and wellness like the “National Breast Cancer Foundation” and the “American Stroke Association.” There were 27 celebrities that had participated on her previous podcast with the addition of Actress Erica Hubbard and Music Producer Tony Dofat, that decided to unite on this video version called “DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment Reunion Recap & Giveback” to help her in raising awareness about these foundations for the first season. The show is expected to be released later this year.
Apart from her commitment to social causes, this talented songstress can be heard in feature films,‘Perfectly Single’, ‘Puzzled’, ‘My Favorite Five’ and ‘Hey, Mr. Postman.” She’s also recognized in being cast as an upscale bar patron on the very popular television show ‘Empire” on Fox.
What Lies Ahead Musically
All throughout her journey, DeAna Fai has been humble and has always believed in working hard in silence to allow her success to make the noise. Her new music video for “Me and Mine” will be dropping this year which stars Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award Winning Music Producer, Dunlap Exclusive whom she is also working with on her new album expected to be released later this year as well.
