All the Reasons to Watch the NBA Season This Year

It’s still a little while until the NBA season gets under way, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t start to get excited about it nice and early. The NBA is watched all over the world and has more of a global appeal than ever before, with millions of people tuning in from the UK, Europe and further afield. The excitement and buzz are already building as we prepare for what the 2022-23 season might have in store.

At this stage, some of the predictions are incredibly difficult. The NBA standings and how they will look by the time the season finishes are really anyone’s guess, but it is still really exciting to speculate on what the season might look like and how things might pan out.

Of course, there is always a bunch of reasons to watch the NBA. It’s particularly exciting, fast-paced and one of the most enthralling spectator sports there is being played at the very top level. People are even watching spinoff sports such as BIG3 with interest.

Can the Phoenix Suns go further?

Having lost the NBA Finals in a way that stunned and disappointed their fans, the Phoenix Suns’ inability to win silverware has become something of a talking point for NBA fans, with some people poking fun at them. But who knows, this could be the season that they go one step further.

Chris Paul has been searching for that ring for nearly 20 years now – could this be his year?

The Suns have the potential to be really exciting to watch, and we expect that to be the case in the upcoming season.

Can Russell Westbrook recapture some form?

No denying it, Westbrook struggled a lot last season. The intention was that the former MVP would help the LA Lakers to reach the finals, but they didn’t get to the playoffs and Westbrook’s form left a lot to be desired.

This has led to a number of people questioning whether he may be done at the top level. Westbrook is 33 now, but we predict he could well hit the All-Star rankings again and prove that he is still an elite baller.

Can LeBron keep going at such a high level?

LeBron James is really getting on by the standards of basketball. He’s 37 now, but last season, he looked absolutely incredible, although the Lakers struggled.

There is definitely the feeling that he might finally start to lose his legs this coming season, or even retire from the sport – maybe the 2022-23 season could be his last? The Lakers are going to go into the season with some new additions and will almost inevitably do better than they did last season, but James may finally start to decline this year. Who knows? In other sports, players seem to be going on for longer and longer.

Kyle Kuzma might finally reach his potential

He played his part in 2020 when the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship, but hasn’t necessarily reached the potential we all know he has in his position with the Wizards. Now, he will need to step out of the shadows, as there are some key members potentially leaving the squad. Pre-season is promising for Kuzma.

Kuzma may well break out this season and become one of the very best in the league. Could this be an All-Star season for him? It’s time for a new generation of stars to flourish. With that in mind… Jabari Smith Jr. may have a breakthrough season

Smith has been hard to ignore in the NCAA, with some unbelievable statistics, averaging 16.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, two assists and more. His 3-line shooting is unreal and all of his stats and percentages are pretty great too.

In this Houston team, we think that Smith Jr. might have a breakthrough season, and while Christian Wood has left, we feel this may provide even more of a chance for him to step into the spotlight.

Summary

There’s still plenty of time before the NBA season actually gets under way, and the excitement is going to continue to grow as it edges ever closer. We’ve still got a bunch of changes and trades to incorporate, and we will see what the rosters look like as the season actually gets within touching distance.

As the sport continues to grow around the world and the money involved continues to be huge, the sport is bound to be super exciting in the coming year.
