Aske and Dave East Inspire on “Never Going Back”
As an artist notorious for his tenacious delivery and lyricism, Aske’s ability to tie authenticity into moving music is nearly one-of-a-kind in this day and age. This can be seen on his previous tracks like “FIFA” featuring Evander Griim and “Scarface.” He’s back at it again with his latest, “Never Going Back.”
The Tucson rapper’s beat selection remains top tier, with the track’s soulful sample providing the perfect backdrop for a real hustler’s anthem. Aske raps about deep topics, recounting the horrors of his past and how they’ve shaped his worldview: “The world is different, skies are gray and the sun is black.” Still, his determination shines through the storm clouds. There is no better feature for this track than Dave East, whose cadence and wordplay perfectly fit the stage that is set. While Aske tells the tales of the South West, East offers a look into his past life on the East Coast. The two grew up on opposite sides of the country, yet their struggles align. They unite to present the world with an important message: life is hard, but you can’t let it destroy you.
