MetaReality is Coming: Dropp Group’s $25 Million Acquisition of Phly Inc. Introduces the First Physical Digital Twin Experience

The metaverse is perhaps the most touted technology hype trains since the onset of the internet itself. Although still in its infancy, it seems that a future where we are immersed in virtual worlds is not a matter of “if”, but “when.” However, the question on everyone’s mind still echoes through the noise: when will this technology be advanced enough to replicate our real-world experience?

When it comes to this transitional period from Web 2.0 to web3, dropp Group (“dropp”) is at the center of providing that launching point. In its mission to help companies successfully transition into web3, dropp just signed a monumental deal that will further bolster its unique set of tools to onboard companies into the metaverse. 

Yesterday, dropp announced its $25 million acquisition of Phly, Inc. (“Flyy”), a social metaverse platform that models real cities in a virtual 3D world. The newly struck deal arms dropp with the infrastructure to develop the world’s first physical digital twin experience deemed the MetaReality: the commercial and multisensory evolution of the metaverse aimed to bridge digital and real-world locations for consumers, communities, and brands who aspire to seamlessly onramp into web3. 

Gurps Rai, dropp’s CEO and Co-Founder explained why this move is such a major leap forward for the company. “By integrating our innovative technologies, we will deliver the most complete and compelling metaverse experience anywhere,” Rai said boldly. Flyy’s Founder & CEO, Adel Al Massarani, who will join the dropp team as Chief Metaverse Officer and will head up dropp’s new MetaReality division, doubled down on Rai’s confidence. “Collectively, we are now poised to revolutionize the metaverse and web3 industries,” said Massarani

dropp first gained traction back when the company debuted its “shopatainment” platform, droppTV, in April of 2020. droppTV was the first video ecommerce marketplace through which users could easily purchase the products they see in the music videos directly on the app by tapping or clicking on the featured items. Since then, dropp has expanded into a multi-division company with a patent-protected technology stack positioned to help enterprises and creators successfully transition into web3. 

With the acquisition of Flyy and its assets, dropp’s MetaReality platform will feature fully immersive digital renderings of cities around the world, starting with the most iconic locations and buildings. Additionally, each building will be minted as a unique NFT to give owners access to dropp’s proprietary technology resources. “Our mission is to enable communities to build the world that they want to live in,” said Rai. “MetaReality will provide users with unique, value driven Web3 experiences unavailable anywhere else.”
