Why Fishing Movies and Series Are Now so Popular

Fishing is a hobby that has been popular for centuries but hasn’t already received the place in popular culture that it deserves. That’s changing and there are many signs that it’s going to become an increasingly popular part of our lives from now on, with new movies, TV shows, and documentaries among the key highlights showing the way forward.

How Fishing Has Entered the Mainstream in the Last Few Years

Streaming services have helped us to access more fishing content more conveniently, and it’s been a success story so far. Shows such as Deadliest Catch, Lunkerville, and Wicked Tuna all show us different aspects of this pastime and all of them have gained impressive numbers of viewers. Monster Carp is a British series that visits fishing locations across the planet to try and find big fish, but the relaxed style gives us a hint as to why even people who have never fished before are becoming increasingly attracted to these shows.

Another example of how fishing is gaining new fans comes with the Big Bass Bonanza slot game from Pragmatic Play. With symbols and gameplay based on the hobby, it immerses players in a fishing trip where an angler acts as a special wild symbol and his gear is used as paying symbols. The popularity of this game means that several spin-offs with different features have already been created.

What Are Some of the Most Recent Releases?

Mending the Line is due for a June release and stars Brian Cox with Sinqua Walls. It’s a movie about a wounded war veteran with PTSD who decides to try fishing to overcome the panic attacks he suffers from. This is a good example of how the different aspects of this sport can be incorporated into movies in interesting ways.

The short documentary called Huff is a more modest film, as it only runs for six and a half minutes. Yet, this short is a heartfelt tribute to Steve Huff, who has been described as the best fishing guide alive. Known for his appearance in printed media, this is the first time that Huff has been the subject of a film, and it shows him in the Everglades as he considers how lucky he is to live the life he has carved out for himself in the fishing industry.

When we enter the new releases section of the Fishing TV website, we get the chance to follow angling adventures from around the world. New shows listed here include Emerald Paradise from Slovenia, The Selfish Generation from Russia, and Hooké from Canada. Therefore, we can quickly see that watching this type of entertainment lets us see different parts of the world while also experiencing different presentation styles.

The timeless appeal of fishing has ensured that it’s moved into popular culture in fascinating new ways including movies and TV shows. Look out for more ways of enjoying this hobby on our screens and in other ways that let us appreciate the many different aspects of fishing and the varied ways that people do it.
