Reemo Meerak Hits Hard on ‘Back To The Reemo, Vol.1’ ft. DJ Chase
Artist and media personality Reemo Meerak just hit us with his comedic satire album Back To The Reemo, Vol.1 with a dope music bed and highlights by DJ Chase yesterday, and he leaves no stone unturned. From Loyalty, Hip Hop 50, and Media High Jinks, Reemo lets loose on his debut album project. While many are familiar with Reemo Meerak via social media and his podcast, The C.U.T.S. this is his first foray into making an actual recording and let me tell you IT WORKS!!!
In the album I learned we shared something in common, we both started our careers in media 11 years ago in 2012. For me, it was a year earlier as a citizen journalist but came to Hype in 2012 and that’s where my official calendar starts. One joint is particularly on point because, in these 11 years, my experience on the carpets, media rooms, and events has been one that has perplexed me as regards access and placement when Black media shows up. There was a time when showing up to a carpet or an event without a professional camera was a no-no and might get one invited off and out…but with the advent of social media things have changed, and ONCE AGAIN, Black media is suffering because of it. With that being said, my absolute favorite track on the project is Media High Jinks as it addresses the elephant in the room as regards the treatment of Black media…and why. It was cool to hear a perspective on a shared experience.
Reemo Meerak says the quiet *ish out loud!
Overall, the commentary and observations from Reemo Meerak have a comedic tint while being at the same time scathing…and on point IMO. Thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to his perspectives on some of the things we as a community discuss daily…he says some of the quiet *ish out loud!!!
I could feel Reemo had so much more to say, with receipts, and I’m excited for Vol.2…it’s my genuine hope that he RIPS AZZ as if Robin, Steve, or Bernie had touched his spirit and I KNOW he has it in him!!! This volume whet the appetite! “Back To The Reemo, Vol.1” is available on your favorite DSPs.
