Black Sustainability, Inc., recently announced the 8th Annual Black Sustainability Summit, happening from October 6th to October 8th, 2023, across the vibrant Metro Atlanta area. As the world’s premier gathering for sustainability practitioners of African descent, this summit continues its tradition of providing an empowering platform for education, empowerment, and collaboration.
A Stellar Lineup of Visionaries
This year, the summit is pulling out all the stops with a lineup of presenters of African descent who are set to offer fresh perspectives on harnessing resources across various sustainability disciplines. Raina Turner-Greenlea, Co-founder and Executive Director of Black Sustainability, Inc., expressed her excitement, saying, “We are excited to bring forth the 8th Annual Black Sustainability Summit! It is a powerful testament to the solutions and growing impact frontline communities have across the Global South.”
A Multifaceted Summit Experience
Over three engaging days, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with sustainability practitioners and leaders from around the world. The summit will feature hands-on workshops, impactful reports, and actionable strategies for implementing locally-driven climate and environmental solutions. It will stand as a beacon of progress and unity, with a commitment to being a zero-waste event that fosters connections and collaboration among like-minded individuals.
Summit Highlights:
Day 1 – Friday, October 6
Location: New Black Wall Street Market, Stonecrest, GA
Day one will feature insightful presentations and reports from frontline community-based organizations, all working together to develop a State of Black Sustainability Report. Attendees can also look forward to enriching networking mixers.
Day 2 – Saturday, October 7
Location: The Promised Land at Lake Sheryl, Snellville, GA
Day two promises immersive learning experiences and hands-on workshops designed for all members of the family. Plus, this day coincides with the 14th Annual Original Metro-Atlanta Collard Greens Cultural Festival in Snellville, adding cultural celebration to the educational mix.
Day 3 – Sunday, October 8
Location: Chattahoochee Hills Charter School, Chattahoochee Hills, GA
The summit will conclude with a half-day of final reports from frontline community-based organizations, along with discussions on the next steps.
Be Part of a Groundbreaking Report
This year’s Black Sustainability Summit offers attendees the chance to actively contribute to the creation of a groundbreaking State of Black Sustainability Report. This report will serve as a platform to share scalable climate solutions, addressing challenges faced by BIPOC communities. Participants will also gain insights into sustainable agricultural practices within the Black community and witness transformative efforts by local organizations and leaders dedicated to restoring and preserving our planet.
The Cause
In a move that further amplifies its impact, the annual summit is now a fundraiser for BSI. A portion of ticket purchases will go toward the RBG Impact Fund, supporting member projects, with the remaining percentage contributing to organizational capacity to bolster impactful initiatives.
