Inside The Red Carpet At The 1st Ever Gamers Choice Awards

The Gamers Choice Awards pays homage to top Gamers as well as Streamers, You tube stars, Celebrities from TV, Film and Sports. The Same producers who created the Teen Choice Awards are behind the Gamers Choice Awards with winners determined by the public via online votes. The response far exceeded expectations, with over 2.1 million votes cast. Rock n Roll icons KISS performed opening up for the first ever TV special, and paid homage to the creative genius of Stan Lee who is credited with laying the foundation for many games and gaming characters.

The show was hosted by VH1 personality Carrie Keagan and gaming expert Marcus ‘dj Wheat’ Graham of Twitch TV. Top gamers and esports stars were in attendance including Ninja, who brought home three Gamers’ Choice Awards, taking home honors for Fan Favorite Esports Player of the Year, Fan Favorite Gamer Moment and the 2018 Super Nova Honor. Fortnite led the gaming sector with five GCA Fan Favorite Awards. The Fan Favorite Male and Female Streamers of the Year were TimTheTatman and Pokimane, respectively. Other winners announced on air included Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Terry Crews, named Fan Favorite Celebrity Gamer (Actor). His pre-teen son, Isaiah, joined him on stage where Crews proudly said, “Getting closer through gaming, sharing fun times and VR experiences literally made me young again and keeps me young non-stop and I just want to dedicate this award to my son.” Snoop Dogg was awarded Fan Favorite Celebrity Gamer (Musician).

Also in attendance were Tony Hawk, Tom Green, Tara Lipinski, Jordan Fisher, Chandler Riggs, Felicia Day, Chuck Lidell, Camilla Luddington, Rhett McLaughlin, Link Neal, Tito Ortiz, and Lil Yachty. The one hour special aired on CBS-TV on Sunday, December 9th. The pre-show red carpet and other festivities were streamed live via Twitch. KISS begins their final tour, The End Of The Road Tour, on January 31, 2019 in Vancouver after a 45 year stellar career. The Hall of Famers have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and have planned the tour and special experiences to thank their fans for their loyalty over the years.
