Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins On 2019’s “Summer Gods Tour” & What Else Is Coming Up For 3EB
Back in January 2019, Third Eye Blind announced the 35-city Summer Gods Tour, which also features Jimmy Eat World and Ra Ra Riot. Produced by Live Nation, the North American amphitheater tour will kick off on June 14th at L.A.’s Greek Theatre wrap on August 3rd in Irvine, CA’s FivePoint Amphitheatre.
Third Eye Blind has been touring more green every year. For starters, the band and its crew have been free of water bottles since 2017. This year, to offset the tour’s carbon footprint, Third Eye Blind will be voluntarily investing in a carbon offset project in Alaska managed by ClimeCo, The American Land Conservancy, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Additionally, to offset audience-related travel — which is anticipated to be the biggest source of carbon emissions from the tour — a portion of each concert ticket sold will support a United States-based ClimeCo carbon offset project.
For a limited time, discounted $20 tickets for the Summer Gods Tour will be available via Live Nation, thanks to National Concert Week. This event runs from May 1st to 7th.

When Third Eye Blind first got big, no one sounded like your band, and your old label was known for over-A&R’ing projects. When did you first know that you were right when it came to making the kind of music you wanted to make?
Stephan Jenkins: I guess I was about 15. The idea of knowing that you are right just means that you have a sound in your head and the willingness to listen to it even when other people tell you not to. Call it stubbornness or creative drive, it’s all the same thing.
This summer you’ll be out on the road with Jimmy Eat World. You two had hits and major label deals around the same time, but they came from more of a punk upbringing. Had your paths crossed with them before booking this tour?
Stephan Jenkins: They have not, though I must say I think though our music that has more chords than some, our ethos has always been punk. By that I mean go ahead and say it and let the consequences be what they may.
After this tour wraps, what do things look like for you and band? Will you be writing or producing for other artists anytime soon?
Stephan Jenkins: I will spend August surfing in Indonesia and then get back at it in the studio in September. We recognize that we are on a roll and want to charge with it. And then we will be looking to get to Europe and the places we missed in the U.S. in the Fall.
Is there a career accomplishment you’re most proud of?
Stephan Jenkins: Not yet.
Finally, Stephan, any last words for the kids?
Stephan Jenkins: There is new music and I will see you in the pit this summer.
