Pop with a little bit of Country.. Angela Gayle~ the Interview ~

Angela was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up in a small, rural town where she led a very humble childhood. She comes from a line of family musicians. Her mother and grandmother played instruments and were heavily involved in their church choirs. Angela’s dad played the trumpet and guitar. Angela began her music experience at the age of 4, where she began piano lessons, as well as vocal lessons. By age ten, Angela had learned how to play the flute. By the age of 13, Angela was in the studio, recording covers of some of her musical inspirations such as Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey.

Angela played piano and was a vocalist in a jazz band at age 13. The band travelled around Nashville and Memphis performing live. Throughout her high school years, Angela excelled vocally, winning various state and national singing competitions, as well as songwriting awards. Angela’s music career was coupled with formal acting lessons. She performed in various community theatre projects, playing lead roles and singing.

Angela has performed as the opening act for the Professional Hockey team, the Nashville Predators, and for the NFL team, the Tennessee Titans, singing the national anthem on numerous occasions. She has also performed on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, and the Ryman Auditorium, among other places.

At age 15, Angela was discovered by a well renowned international model agency, and began work as a professional model She was also taking acting classes, attended a professional acting school, and worked in several television commercials and music videos.

Angela eventually had to take a break from the entertainment industry to continue her education. Angela graduated with a double Bachelor’s degree and then eventually went to graduate school and obtained a Doctorate degree in law. Now that Angela has completed her education, she is back on the music scene. She is a country/pop artist who writes and performs her own music.

While she plays several instruments, Angela has a focus on the piano and the guitar and is influenced and inspired by the sounds of artists such as Etta James, Patsy Cline, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, NSYNC and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few.

What first got you into music? My mother signed me up for piano and voice lessons when I was 4 years old.

Who inspired you to make music? I’m extremely expired by classic pianists, such as Beethoven, Nietzsche and musicians such as Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline and Etta James, to name a few.

How would you describe the music that you typically create? I would describe the music I create as music that comes from the heart. I don’t really conform to a genre. I experiment with different sounds and don’t restrict myself. Because of the freedom I have to look into the sounds I enjoy, I can say I remain versatile as an artist and I am very proud of that.

What is your creative process like? The creative process is different for every song I write. Sometimes, I become obsessed with idea or with the theme the song. Other times, I have words written already, and they are said over and over again until a melody appears. But ways are equally as challenging and fun for me.

Who would you most like to collaborate with? I have a long list of people that I’d like to collaborate with, but at the moment, I’d like to work with Ed Shearon, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Carrie Underwood.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be? There are too many to name, but I definitely know that in an an effort to promote diversity, there are some great artists out there like Lizzo, and Florida Georgia Line.

What is one message you would give to your fans? I would first say thank you to my fans for their undying loyalty and support. They keep me going. I’d also say to chase your dreams; always. Never give up.

What is the most useless talent you have? The most useless? Not sure if it’s a talent, but when it comes to creativity, my mind can go into overdrive I. Regards to ideas and expressing myself. That can be confusing for some people to keep up with.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs? I ALWAYS sing in the shower. But they are always songs that I wouldn’t necessarily perform live, like Rihanna for example. Come on! There’s

onlyone Rihanna! Well…until I get into the shower that is. Then, there’s two.

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career? I also have acting and modelling, but if entertainment was not in the cards for me, I’d be an attorney. I did graduate from law school, so that might be a good use of my time.

Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows? I have performed at the Grand Old Opry House, which is my favorite because of the history. I have also performed at the Ryman auditorium, which was a very proud moment for me because that was my first concert to see NSYNC, who were the loves of my life back then. Ive performed at the Biltmore, and the Schermerhorn. I have also performed at several stadiums. I love performing at all places.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business? I believe it has helped in that it has given artists the opportunity to get their craft out there without breaking the bank. I also think it has had some downside because it’s led into a culture that think the internet and streams is what makes someone talented or an artist. There is so much more to it than that. The internet should be the icing on the cake; not the entire business model. However; if it has been a very helpful avenue for some artists, then it’s never my place to criticize. I want to celebrate others, and encourage artists to work their platform, always!

What is your favourite song to perform? I love to sing Etta James, At Last, and of course my single out, Love Yourself.

Which famous musicians do you admire? That’s a difficult question to answer. Garth Brooks is definitely one right now.

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into? I’m actually kind of a goodie-goodie. The only trouble I got into was with my mom, as a teenager. For some reason, I just want to do whatever I could to push her buttons. That phase of my life didn’t last forever, though.

What is the best advice you’ve been given? Today is a gift, and tomorrow is not a guarantee, so live a full life, chase your dreams, and try to enjoy the ride.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? I wish that artists in the industry could lift each other up and empower each other more. If you are an artist that’s expressing yourself in your own way, then there is no reason to be mean to each other and tear each other down. There’s just no reason for unkindness and hatred in this world.

What’s next for you? I am working on some acting projects and I am completing my album. I’m also hoping to plan some tour dates for 2020.

How important is the current climate crises to you and how do you think you could help? The climate crisis is very important. It is literally changing the cellular makeup of our planet. As far as how I can help, I have spent time in other countries, doing humanitarian aid as it relates to this issue. On a smaller scale, though, attempting to diminish and possibly eliminate drinking from plastic containers; encouraging more people to volunteer and clean up the environment in their communities; and keeping a more watchful eyes in our oceans, such as whale hunting and ships, including Cruise Liners, dumping oil and trash into the oceans. These are all ways to help with such a big crisis.
