Who is Supamodel Joelee?

Supamodel Joelee, born Joelee Smith, is a Hip Hop/Dancehall Reggae artist. Her colorful lyrics, and her savvy flow and delivery are her trademark. Her range, fierceness and versatility help her bring across in her music sounds that no artists have ever been able to fully master. Supamodel Joelee is able to fuse two of the most dynamic cultures, and she does it well. She proclaims, “I’m bringing hip hop back to its roots, which is dancehall reggae”. Being from Kingston, Jamaica and base in New York City, Supamodel Joelee is able to draw the best influences from both genres.

Supamodel Joelee first showcased her complimentary rap/dancehall reggae style and flow with the release of “Model Chic” in 2012. “Model Chic” was well received by DJs, radio stations, and music listeners; most of whom often described Supamodel

Joelee as being “different and unique”. In 2013, a Model Chic promotional tour was launched across southern and northeastern United States. During 2014, Supamodel Joelee spent most of her time writing, recording and honing her craft.

In Summer 2015, Supamodel Joelee released her single “PFAT” produced by DAGCK and DJ D Live. “PFAT” is sexy, yet powerful, and allows women to feel good about themselves while “twerking” out in the clubs or at home. “PFAT” has been generating a buzz on social media, and an official video directed by Mills Miller has been released. “PFAT” official music video is sexy and captivating and is sure to leave viewers in awe. “PFAT” climbed to number 1 on Digital Radio Tracker (DRT) National Top 80 Independent Chart for four consecutive weeks.

Supamodel Joelee recently wrapped up recording her next single “Love Letter” which will be officially released in February 2016. She is currently in the studio working on several other singles to be released in Spring 2016. These releases will be a step closer to Supamodel Joelee’s ultimate goal of releasing her EP in 2016.

Supamodel Joelee declares, “I do music for everyone! No matter where you’re from you should be able to rock-out to one of my songs. I am coming with fire so be prepared”.

As you see yourself, who is Supamodel Joelee?

Supamodel Joelee is confident, she is fierce, she has a Supa sexy model image. What can I say… Supamodel Joelee is the complete package! I see myself as many things, a Game Changer, a Leader, and a Role Model. I have an authentic flow and delivery that helps me bring across diversity and style in my music. I am also a champion for female empowerment.

Tell us about your current project?

Omg! I’m so excited to talk about this. My latest single “PFAT” is doing extremely well! (I am very grateful to god and my team without them this wouldn’t be possible). “PFAT” has been the Number One song for 4 consecutive weeks on the Digital Radio Tracker (DRT) Airplay Top 80 Independent Chart, Number 4 on the Top 50 Hip/Hop Chart. “PFAT” has also been climbing up the Pop Chart and the Top 200 Chart.

PFAT means a lot to me. It’s a life changer, in the sense that it’s my breakthrough song (literally). It’s the song that allows listeners to get somewhat personal with me. It’s also the becoming of this confident woman, Supamodel Joelee, in music, an artist that’s fearless and who is doing her regardless of all the talks. I’m just ready to conquer and demolish this industry (not literally.. Lol)

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

A lot have happened, not only in my career, but also in my life that was evident that I should be doing music. I can’t pinpoint a specific moment or thing, but I knew early in my life that I love to entertain and to be on stage performing. Music is the platform where I can freely do this and bring a positive change to people’s life. This industry is a perfect match with making an enterprise out of what I love doing.

What makes you the next great happening?

Everything about Supamodel Joelee is happening right now. I am bringing a new sound to hip hop and dancehall/reggae. Many hip hop artists have sampled dancehall/reggae music and vice versa, but what makes Supamodel Joelee stands out, is my ability to fuse the two genres effortlessly… and!! on top of that I’m an authentic Jamaican!! (no carbon copy round here) So what you are hearing is authenticity. Even in my writing, how I put my rhymes together has Jamaican influences that only a true born and raised Yardie can do. Supamodel Joelee is not only talented, but also Supa sexy and appealing. When you put the talent, authenticity and appeal together you get something that everyone will want more of, and that’s Supamodle Joelee!

Are you currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

Right now I’m with DAGCK an independent label… I still have my eyes on the “big guns” or better yet hopefully their eyes will soon be on me. I know I’m talented and I’m bringing something fresh to the industry, so it’s only a matter of time before I get that big break.

Who and what are your influences?

My influences are from everywhere. It could a scene or a word from a movie, or it could be from a completely different scenario. Life in itself is my influence. Hearing a kind word from a well- wisher or supporter is an inspiration. I’m just extremely grateful that I’m able to wake up every day and do what I enjoy doing… what I believe I was born to do!

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

People should expect more hits from Supamodel Joelee. I just finished the recording of my next hit single “Love Letter” which will be released in early December 2015. This song is dedicated to all the good men out there. Big dem up… cause you know good men are hard to find! These singles will be heat… they will make people feel so good and just want to have a good time. They will make people know how diverse Supamodel Joelee’s music is!

I am also working on several songs for my EP/Mixtape that will drop in 2016. A whole heap a things in store! “going hard cuz we nah go home”. Yea… just be prepared! LoL… This true story is crazy. I like my food spicy. Actually I love my food spicy and peppery hot. So, this particular instance (not too long ago), I prepared some food with so much pepper on it… not intentionally though… the scotch bonnet pepper burst in the pot. I cried more and more every bite I take. I didn’t stop eating though until the food was all done and a bucket of tears later. Never cried so much… ever over food!
