Who is Phokis?
Born on October 7th, 1986 in Hampton, Virginia… Phokis was a product of a single-parent household, raised by his mother. She taught Phokis the values and morals to stand by in life; family, loyalty, love, respect, and music amongst other qualities. She often would play Tupac – All Eyez On Me, Michael Jackson – Dangerous, Mary J Blige – What’s The 411, and Lil Kim – Hardcore, which lead him to want to rap.
Phokis knew at an early age that he had the ability to make art out of various methods of expression; building, speaking, acting, and most impacting, music.
Doing shows all around his area, 757, Phokis gained most of his respect from “block ciphers”, “freestyle battles”, and features with other artists.
His sarcastic, brilliant, and compassionate personality have made him like the New York Yankees; one of the most loved and hated.
Finally, Phokis released his first major project 80s show towards the end of 2020. Shortly after, he followed up with the loosies tape which to him was a mixtape giving his fans who wanted “bars” mixed heavy with his storytelling concept featuring the hit “Amaterasu”. Here in 2022, he now releases “Memories Of An Ex Rapper” Album which is themed behind reminiscent of days with rap was at its purest form, to him.
Produced by Tragic of Dopedreamaz, and Mixed and Engineered by himself, the sound is a new millennium, high quality, sample-based, hip hop feel like none other, and guarantees to move supporters all over the world.
