Karl Anthony Towns Sr. Praises Kevin Garnett For Taking His Son Under His Wing

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Power forward Karl Anthony Towns is one of the NBA’s most promising young stars.
The former Rookie of the Year is a hybrid power forward in this generation of basketball. He can play with his back to the basket and stretch the floor like stretch four pioneers Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, and Rasheed Wallace. Towns also possess the ability to handle the ball.
Speaking of future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett he made his return to the Timberwolves in 2016, during Towns rookie year. The young power forward was able to lean on the savvy veteran as he became accustomed to the NBA lifestyle on and off the court. Back in 2016, Town told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Basketball Society Online. at the time that Kevin Garnett “He continuously told me to be patient,”
“Being patient on the court, everything will begin to slow down. I mean, just how to be a professional, how to be a professional in this game on and off the court. Just to do my best to lead, and that’s the biggest thing.”
Recently Basketball Society’s Robinson was able to catch up with Karl Anthony Towns Sr. On a segment of the Scoop B Radio Podcast to ask his opinion on Garnett’s influence on his son. Karl Anthony Towns Sr. praised Garnett for taking his son under his wing: “The best thing that happened to Karl-Anthony Towns was Kevin Garnett,” Told Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson of Basketball Society Online.
“‘Because Garnett taught Karl how to be a pro.”
He would continue by stating “You need that veteran leadership,” he said. “When Karl came in there, he just happened to have a guy, 20-year veteran, who was willing to take a young, 19-year-old young man, under his wing and develop him and guide him.”
Karl Towns Sr would finish the interview with Robinson by stating that “Kevin Garnett was the key to Karl’s success right now and they stay close to this day.”
Recently, there have been several reports stating that Towns’ teammate Jimmy Butler is fed up with the antics of the Wolves young players specifically Towns. In a report from Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, Butler is “all but fed up with the nonchalant attitude of his younger teammates,” specifically center Karl-Anthony Towns.
With that being said, Butler has one year remaining on his deal before he can exercise the early termination clause in his contract that will make him an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019. There have also been reports about that Butler and Kyrie Irving want to team up somewhere in the East. Most likely in Boston, but we will have to see how this whole scenario turns out.
“I just don’t think there have been many people that have understood how important winning is to me, man,’’ Butler told the Sun-Times in late April. “I just had a conversation about that very thing with somebody — not important who — but I put so much into this game, and I only play to win.”
