Live Session: DJ MLK ‘Goodnight Don’t Exist In Atlanta’

DJ MLK…part of the HoodRich institution in ATL and tour DJ for T.I, stepped into some official A&R duties on T.I.’s new “Paperwork” album. He tells us there’s an upcoming project with T.I. and Jeezy which he’s got a hand in as well!!! Most importantly, if you just dig his mixes, is the upcoming Volume 6 of MLK’s “Goodnight Don’t Exist In Atlanta” mixtape series. If the cliché term “highly anticipated” was ever an apt description, it most definitely fits the next in the series.

Volume 4 got me turned onto MLKs work…listening to his mixes is like listening to my dream playlist…meaning if I knew the joint was out there, I’d want it in my database. He’s got my music library on auto pilot! Here’s the link to “Goodnight Don’t Exist In Atlanta” Vol. 4, let me know what you think. I loved Volume 5 as well but 4 was my intro…I’m sharing!

An unassuming young man, DJ MLK prides himself on results which is why he “holds court over 100,000 party goers seven days a week, spinning at various clubs throughout Atlanta. Business minded to boot, he manages upcoming writers and producers under the Life Without Music umbrella. He is part of the triumvirate which includes Black Bill Gates and DJ Scream, who along with the Hoodrich Entertainment family, create a mixtape circuit whose reach numbers in the tens of thousands.

A dope highlight is that DJ MLK has done mixtapes for the entire Grand Hustle camp, including the King himself.

Gatekeeper he might be, MLK is still one to get out and get his hands dirty, so to speak; he fills multiple positions with Grand Hustle, from mix show promotions, to street team work. I’d say he’s showcasing something that has proven to be a formulae for success by other industry leaders, get out be seen, put your personal mark and brand on the best product possible and let people know it’s there.

We caught up with DJ MLK for a “Live Session” and talked about his ever expanding footprint into the entertainment industry, what an A&R really does, what’s coming up for 2015 and he dropped a few surprises like his craziest “Where they do that at” moment…check out the audio below!
