World Champion Premiere “Shakes” On Beats 1, Debut EP Out 12/4

Sydney duo World Champion have premiered a brand new track entitled “Shakes” with musical tastemaker Zane Lowe on Beats 1 Radio. The brand new track is the second single off their forthcoming Avocado Galaxy EP, out December 4th on Future Classic. Pre-order it here.

The band first appeared on our radar with their infectious single “Avocado Galaxy,” described by Noisey as “zingy synth-pop at its finest” with Red Bull also chiming in calling it “a delicious slice of spacey indie-electronica.” Future classic gave the song the remix treatment, releasing the Avocado Galaxy Remix EP, featuring collaborations from Lissvik, Melbourne legend Tornado Wallace, and Ras G. Buy the remix EP here.

World Champion is the brainchild of William Campion and Julian Sudek. Sudek and Campion met quickly bonding over their love of psych pop and electronica and a dangerous love for avocados. The project started as a little studio beast; a patchwork of ideas and jams that they had individually been sitting on for years. Together, with Julian on drums and William on vocals they transformed those sketches into fully formed jams.

Julian was a founding member of Mercy Arms and has since played with Canyons, FLRL (Jono Ma, Kirin J Callinan) and most recently George Maple. Will Campion has mostly been a bedroom producer, as well as venturing out with local Sydney indie band, The Chevaliers.

If “Avocado Galaxy” earned this two-piece the backing of some of Sydney’s well-respected creative minds like Future Classic, Jono Ma, and Pelvis, with “Shakes”, World Champion take it interplanetary.
