Carsen’s new single “No Joke” highlights her soulful lyrics, captivating voice and energetic pop sound. You can now read our conversation with Carsen. You can also listen to her new music now!

What makes ‘No Joke’ different from your past work?

I think No Joke is definitely a little edgier and darker than my past works. I’m showing my honest thoughts on the current state of the world & how I view what’s going on right now, which I never really touched on before…

Can you describe the concept behind the track?

Duality. Nothing is what it seems. Everything and everyone has a dark side. Sometimes it’s the most charming people who seem to be radiating light. Watch out for those types cause everyone has a dark side… and the people who say and act like they don’t – be careful…and be open to the fact that even people you’re supposed to “trust” and so called authority figures can have a sinister agenda, so always use your discernment.

How would you describe your artistic evolution throughout your career?

I guess I played it pretty safe when I first started putting out music. Happy and easy listening content.. I feel like I’m finally finding my unique sense of identity and sound.

What’s been the biggest change in your life over the past year?

The birth of my second child. For real. Motherhood is absolutely life changing. Having 2 at that…and also finding the time to work on my craft and passion, music! This past year, my life partner in crime and artist Joey Stylez and I have been working super hard to hit bigger stages overseas. We just performed at this year’s Reeperbahn in Germany. It was an amazing experience, so we’re currently planning on doing more performances/touring around the world.

What song by another artist do you wish you had written?

Elastic Heart – Sia. She’s so brilliant. She’s one of the best, If not THE best female songwriter in the music industry.

And finally, where can readers keep up with what you are doing?

You can follow me on my social media. I’m always updating and keeping my followers/fans in the loop for what’s next.
