You’ve been participating in music your entire life. What drew you to pursuing hip hop specifically?

What drew me to pursuing hip-hop, was listening to mac dre and tupac, and how their music was able to send a message, but also a positive vibe, highlighted by a good time. Hip Hop = a good time in my eyes.

Did growing up in the Bay Area influence your musical style? And what is the scene like in SF?

Of course growing up in the bay area or even just California in general, my music’s been mainly influence by artist FROM the state. The scene in SF isn’t the biggest moving, but its crawling with a gang of great artists, and One of my favorite artists is Larry June for sure, an SF native.

What are some of the best things that came out of your move to LA? And what were some challenges you faced?

I’d say the best things that came out of my move to LA were the lessons i learned. What its like to be away from home chasing a dream working a 9-5, while living with someone whos completely toxic. It definitely put me in a “don’t do THIS again” mindset. In a more positive standpoint, i gained a lot of industry knowledge being in LA, stuff like marketing and the business side of music.

Tell us about how NappyHead Records formed. What inspired the move to start your own production company?

Me And my Best friend who is actually the President of the company, Bados, always wanted to be more than a producer/ artist duo. We are some young black men who wanna change the world to something positive, so Bados came up with NappyHead Productions at first because we’re some curly haired young men, and that stuck. Turning it to NappyHead Records we expanded our dreams to own a label and be able to help future artists strive and succeed.

Where do you want to see yourself in 5 years? How about in 10?

In 5 years I would like to see myself with a gang of plaques, but, I’d be satisfied with one platinum hit. By ten years, I want NappyHead Records to be one of the biggest Musical Empires ever, allowing our families and generations to come to eat forever.

Who are some of your musical influences and why?

03 greedo is a huge musical influence because in many ways i feel related to him, certain things hes rapped about, and the specific melodies have just driven me to want to make emotional music as well. On the other side Mac Dre and Larry June have helped influenced my bars into being more fun or slick, helping me create more party-related songs.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced musically during covid?

COVID has actually only presented me with financial challenges, but without a 9-5, I get so much time to perfect my craft. Besides relying on music video deadlines, COVID hasn’t presented any musical problems for me, only blessings.

What’s next in 2020? Will you be releasing any music before the holidays?

A WHOLE BUNCH OF MUSIC AND VIDEOS STAY TUNED!!!!
