RōZY’s Zoe & Molly Flores On New Single “Pretty Little Lies,” Signing With Megaforce Records & More

When Molly and Zoe Flores started the band now known as RōZY, at ages 10 and 11 respectively, they called themselves STARFIGHT ROCKS, and having band practice was as easy as one sister knocking on the other’s door and running down to the music room of the Texas home where they grew up together. Like any siblings they were just as prone to arguing with each other as they were to forgetting all about it and moving on. Making music brought them closer together in some ways but they were like any good band in others. The duo, as a two-piece with just drums and guitar, won the Rodeo Rockstar Contest at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, and scored gigs at SXSW, Warehouse LIVE, and the House of Blues. Brandon Martinez joined the band in 2016 as its second guitarist, while Charlie Bubenik rounded out the lineup in 2019 as bassist.

Over the last several years RōZY has played with Buckcherry, The Iron Maidens, Jake E. Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel, Puddle Of Mudd, King’s X, Youth In Revolt, Vixen and L.A. Guns. The first show the girls ever attended was that of legendary Christian metal band Stryper and in 2019 RōZY shared the stage with Stryper. Though they keep up dutifully with contemporary pop and rock, the girls were raised on a balanced diet of classic hard rock by their parents, especially their heavy metal-loving mom who introduced them to artists like Metallica and Joan Jett, as well as Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard and Nirvana. Now signed to Megaforce Records — the label which put Metallica, Frehley’s Comet, M.O.D. and Anthrax on the map — RōZY released its latest single, “Pretty Little Lies,” about 2 weeks ago.

On October 6, 2020, I had the pleasure of interviewing both Molly and Zoe Flores via Zoom, as embedded below. More on the Flores sisters and all members of RōZY can be found online via www.rozyofficial.com, www.facebook.com/TheRoZYOfficial and twitter.com/TheRozyOfficial.
