Who Is Emanny?

R&B/Soul Recording Artist Emanny just returned with his new single “In Too Deep” from his forthcoming project, “3”. The mid-tempo track was produced by Karon Graham and Blame Ronnie and written by Emanny with Mally G.

“In Too Deep” is a song inspired by past feelings and fears. That moment I can remember falling for someone but not being sure I was ready to give 100% of myself. I think a lot of people in general have been through this. It’s a very natural way to feel especially when love comes to you out of nowhere”, says Emanny.

Currently residing in Los Angeles, he is currently wrapping up his forthcoming project, “3”. The project is slated for full release in early 2021.

The Hype Magazine got Emanny to weigh in on a few things

Tell us the important parts about Emanny the person?

Well, the most important part of me would be my family. Better yet, my loved ones. The people I love motivate me so much to do better on all levels. There are moments where I feel lost or might not be too sure of myself and they are always there to lift me up and give me the love I need and also check me when I’m wrong.

What brought you to the industry?

If I had to attribute it to something, I would give that credit to Michael Jackson. I watched and still to this day study him. His influence and legacy definitely inspired me to say “You know what, this is it. This is what I’m doing with my life.” Entertaining people and bringing them joy is such a beautiful feeling. It’s a high most people would never understand.

Tell us about your newest single “In Too Deep”.

It’s produced by my best friend and longtime collaborator Karon Graham and co-written with my close friends/business partners Mally G & Blame Ronnie. I wanted to be vulnerable on this record. I get tired of hearing R&B songs where the guy sounds very much trapped in his own ego. He’s a misogynist, player or something less than a man who knows what real love is. A lot of men are hesitant to give all of themselves out of fear from past hurts and it’s a vulnerability that’s not showcased enough in R&B from the male perspective.

Tell us about your forthcoming project “3” and what it means for you.

3 represents 3 years. It’s been 3 years since I’ve released music. Also, the projects most people know me for are my “Songs about HER” catalog. With SAH 3 being the next installment, it just felt right to put an emphasis on that number.

You’ve worked with some great names and while there was obviously work getting done, who was the biggest joker you’ve worked with?

The known name would be Joe Budden but today, it would be my partners Mally G and Blame Ronnie. There’s great work getting done of course but with those 3 people in the studio, I’m always going to enjoy the experience and creative process.

Grammy-Nominated Artist/Writer/Arranger, are you able to listen to music as a consumer or are you trapped in the world of analysis?

Yes, for sure. The only time I don’t like to consume new music is when I’m creating a project. I don’t want to be influenced by anyone else’s creativity outside of me and my team. Other than that, I love finding new artists and sounds and usually go back generations to vibe out.

What’s most satisfying for you about making music?

Hearing or seeing a supporter enjoy and relate to it. Making money from it of course is always great but knowing that your work is appreciated is what I hold on to.

When’s the last time a song made you spontaneously get up and dance a bit?

Chris Brown & Young Thug “Go Crazy”, I love that song. I love the beat. Everything about it just feels like it’s time to dance and have fun.

Any guidance for up and comers?

Follow your heart. Remain true to your craft. Be aware of your relevancy and continue to build on your fanbase no matter how small or big you are. Every No you get is just a step closer to the Yes you need to succeed in this business. Take time to learn how this business truly works and then use it to your advantage. Surround yourself with great minds and don’t let the fame or money destroy who you are.
