Tash Neal On His New Album “Charge It To The Game,” Life During COVID-19, Working With Dan Auerbach & More

Last month Black Hill Records announced the March 12, 2021 release of Tash Neal’s hard-hitting and even harder-grooving debut solo album Charge It To The Game. Along with the album announcement, Neal released his new single and music video “Like A Glove,” a song featuring bright guitar bursts, glockenspiel-spiked choruses and love-struck lyrics. “Like A Glove” was produced by Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and is the second single from Tash’s upcoming album, following “Something Ain’t Right,” a song that chronicles the injustice and inhumanity that prevails in society today. The “Like A Glove” video was directed by Nate Ford and Joe Maziarski, produced by Chelsea White, Reilly Brutus, Sean Neal and Chelsea Stoutenburgh, as shot on the streets of New York City.

As a musician, Tash Neal has been running this game for a decade now, with most of that time spent fronting New York City duo The London Souls. Beyond critically-acclaimed albums and appearances at festivals like Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits, Neal performed with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Slash, Tedeschi Trucks Band and The Black Crowes. Prior successes aside, Neal is the survivor of a 2012 horrific car accident that came very close to turning tragic. Following that accident. Neal underwent brain surgery, had a piece of his skull removed and was then placed in a medically-induced coma. Neal recovered from all of that, which largely informs the material heard on Charge It To The Game.

On February 9, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tash Neal via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Neal and Charge It To The Game is online at www.instagram.com/tash_neal, www.facebook.com/tashnealmusic and www.twitter.com/tash_neal.
