0Gilby Clarke On His New Album “The Gospel Truth,” Future Plans, Preferred Guitar Gear & More
Having played in 2 of the most life-altering and influential rock ’n’ roll outfits to ever exist on the planet, Gilby Clarke has played in both Guns N’ Roses and The MC5. Yet Clarke’s extensive credits as a touring and/or recording artist also include lots of other great performers and major label projects, including Candy, Kills For Thrills, Nancy Sinatra, Heart, Col. Parker and Slash’s Snakepit.
Also proper solo artist in his own right, The Gospel Truth is the latest full-length solo effort from Gilby Clarke, as released last month via Golden Robot Records. The Gospel Truth is full of fist-pumping rock songs with fat choruses, bluesy licks and trademark solos. The album also features Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, Chickenfoot drummer Kenny Aronoff and Jane’s Addiction’s Stephen Perkins. It has already spawned 3 singles in “Rock n’ Roll Is Getting Louder,” “Tightwad” and the title track.
On May 11, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Gilby Clarke via Zoom, as embedded below. Besides The Gospel Truth, we spoke about the possibility of re-releasing his out-of-print previous solo albums, guitar tone, future plans as a performer, why he has the right level of fame, and plenty more. Additional info on Clarke and The Gospel Truth can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
