0Chloe Trujillo On Her New Album “Mothers Of A New Nation,” Living In A Household Of Artists & More
Earlier this month, musician and visual artist Chloe Trujillo released her second studio album Mothers Of A New Nation via the Eleven Magic Music record label. Prior to the release of the full-length, the Parisian-born artist had dropped 7 of the album’s 9 tracks over the preceding year, garnering acclaim from Rolling Stone, Metal Hammer and Hard Force alike. Veteran music producer/engineer Tommy Daughtery had spearheaded the overall production of the record, counting Dr. Dre, Tupac, Nate Dogg, Ben Harper and Paul McCartney among his credits. Meanwhile, prodigy bassist Tye Trujillo played guitar on “Propaganda” and “Tide” along with Jane’s Addiction co-founder Stephen Perkins on drums. Chris Poland, former guitarist of thrash metal band Megadeth, contributed riffs to “Light & Love,” while blues-rock artist Craig Erickson added percussion to “Here We Are.”
Talented French producer and filmmaker Anne Pruvost directed the music videos for Mothers Of A New Nation, the second overall full-length for Chloe Trujillo. Beyond her success as a musician, Trujillo has experienced fame as a visual artist and fashion designer. Her work is internationally renowned in locales such as Paris, New York City, Vancouver, Berlin and San Francisco with her most recent collections receiving notice in Vogue Italia, The New York Times, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Her “Aztec De La Chloe” design was displayed as a part of the “Play It Loud Exhibit” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Meanwhile, Trujillo recently signed a record deal with Golden Robot Records for a collaborative music project with Rav Medic (the alias of New Zealand-born musician Mark Dalbeth).
On October 22, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Chloe Trujillo via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Mothers Of A New Nation, we spoke about her next album, living in a household full of musicians, whether she and husband Robert ever play music together, television, and quarantined life during COVID-19. More on Trujillo and her new album can be found by clicking here, here and here.
