How To Encourage Your Significant Other to Work Out

There are few things as beautiful as a couple achieving their fitness goals together. It is a sight to behold and very inspirational. If you and your partner were to start working out together, you would also be the envy of others around you. Although having a conducive workout space certainly helps, convincing your significant other to follow you to the gym is not that easy.

You enjoy so many benefits by being a fit couple, including less stress, being healthier, the ability to help each other, and overall well-being. You also get the best kind of workout buddy, one who will stick by you, or it will be very awkward at home. Here are some tips to encourage your significant other to work out:

Motivate Them

The first stage of working out requires motivation, and you are the best person to motivate your significant other. As soon as they agree to work out with you, it would be best if you offered them as much encouragement as you could. Always be ready with a motivational quote to encourage them to work out.

If you know them well, you will know precisely how you need to motivate them. Some people will need some shouting in their ears, while others will require a milder approach. Using fitness apps has also been proven useful to motivate people. As long as it gets them exercising consistently, any type of motivation will do.

Reward their Accomplishments

Everyone needs goals, especially at the beginning of their fitness journey. Reaching those goals is what helps most people stick with the slow and painful progress of getting fit. Therefore, whenever your significant other reaches any of their fitness goals, you should reward their accomplishments.

Gifts you can give your loved one can range from very simple to very extravagant. It could be sending them flowers using Bouqs same-day flower delivery or taking them on a trip abroad. It is better to make it a fitness-related gift to help them, such as buying them new workout gear.

Choose Fun Activities

Not everyone can begin their fitness journey by diving into the deep end right from the start. For some people, a gentle nudge will work better. For such people, the best way to get them to work out is to start them off with some fun activities. Find something they would like to do and make it physically challenging.

If you do the activity together, the chances are that it will be more fun than doing it alone. Try a low-impact exercise such as swimming or bike riding. You can even make activities like dancing into a workout. As long as it gets them moving and active, it’s a start. You can proceed to more challenging activities later.

Do Two Person Exercises

If you want to encourage your significant other to work out, it would be best to work out together. As a couple that works out together, you will have a workout buddy, and you should utilize it. Your significant other would also prefer to have someone with them at the beginning. You can embrace two-person exercises that you can do together.

Couples have many exercises, including high five pushups, sit-up passes using a medicine ball, and wheelbarrow pushes. You can make up your exercises too and make them fit your workout schedule and space. Don’t be afraid to be creative and innovative when creating such exercises; it will encourage your significant other.

Be a Role Model

The best way to lead is by example, and so if you want your significant other to work out, you should be a role model. Be the perfect example of exercise and any other fitness elements like sleep, recovery, and nutrition. Your partner will witness the benefits and will soon be intrigued.

Nagging rarely works, so it is better to set an example. Being a role model has a more substantial effect on behavior than telling someone what to do.

In conclusion, encouraging your significant other to exercise will depend on your relationship. People vary, and the ways to motivate others to work out are just as varied. Being a couple that exercises together is worth all the trouble to get your partner to work out.
