0“The Estate” Director James Kapner & Actor/Writer Chris Baker On The Film’s Fun Yet Star-Studded Cast & Future Projects
Scheduled to hit U.S. movie theaters and all key VOD outlets on October 22, 2021, The Estate is a star-studded film due out this week via Vertical Entertainment. Directed by James Kapner and written by Chris Baker, The Estate features the acting talents of Eliza Coupe, Greg Finley, Lala Kent, Heather Matazarro, Eric Roberts, Ezra Buzzington, Rocío de la Grana and the aforementioned Chris Baker.
Billed as a “dark comedy thriller,” The Estate takes a look at what happens when a narcissistic son (played by Chris Baker) — yearning for a life of luxury — and his father’s erratic gold-digging wife (played by Eliza Coupe) decide to kill their way into their inheritance. Within these plans, said son and wife employ the help of an absurdly-handsome, mysterious hitman (played by Greg Finley), initiating a psychosexual love triangle that spirals into more than anyone bargained for. Deftly-balancing sharp humor and horror, The Estate manages to be thrilling and gripping yet also fun and campy at times.
On October 20, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with James Kapner and Chris Baker about The Estate via Zoom, as embedded below. Besides this new film, we also spoke about future projects for the two of them. More on Kapner, Baker and The Estate can be found by clicking here, here and here.
