A Interview With Snagev

Snagev is a well-respected record producer from Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his breakout single, “Neon Lights” which has accumulated about half a million on-demand streams on Spotify. At the age of 19, he founded the producer collective known as Bad Vegans, which is a musical group focused on preserving veganism and cruelty-free music production. After receiving musical success at a young age, Snagev remains focused on his fanbase and strives to release his debut album next year, which will feature many of his popular songs. In addition to his own songs, Snagev is also a professional film composer, and he is working on developing the soundtrack to his original documentary Media and The Mind (2022) which will feature guests such as Harper Minta and Cunningham.

How did you get involved in music?

I started taking music professionally in high school, and knew I had a passion to pursue it. I released my first mini-album under my producer collective in 2018, and have been active in the music industry since.

When did you make music a priority?

Music became a priority when I saw that I had a growing fanbase and lots of loyal supporters. They wanted me to release more albums, and they thought the lyrics to my songs were insightful and profound.

What inspires you daily to write & record music?

The overall process of creating music is satisfying, and helps me clear my mind. The lyrics I write are a way of showcasing my feelings.

What’s unique about your music? What sets it apart?

My music is centered around lyrics that respect the vegan lifestyle and diet. Being a follower of veganism myself, I recognize its true importance in people’s lives, which is why I talk about it in my songs. The music that I create strives also tries to create a nostalgic vibe, which is important in modern music.

What’s your favourite and least favourite part about being a musician?

My favorite part about being a musician is that I get to work with so many talented producers and singers. They help me with their projects, and I return the favor. My least favorite part about being a musician is the criticism and negativity in the industry, however I try to avoid these types of behaviors at all costs.

Name 1-2 highly influential musicians that you listen to & respect.

I highly respect Harper Minta, who is a singer based in San Diego. She is a close associate to me and has collaborated with me multiple times. I respect and listen to her because her voice can make any track sound great.

When it comes to how the music enthusiast listens to your album do you prefer, they buy or stream and why?

I always encourage my listeners to decide for themselves, but if they buy my albums and songs, then it helps a lot more. Streaming also greatly supports me as well. However, if I had to choose one, I would want my fans to buy my songs.
