Jackie Kashian On Her New Stand-Up Special “Stay-Kashian,” Podcasting, Future Plans & More

Jackie Kashian has performed standup for over 35 years. Her albums have been #1 on Amazon and iTunes and have over 10 million listens on Spotify and Pandora. She has 2 podcasts: The Dork Forest (hosted since 2006) — where she talks with people about what they love to do, think about and collect — and The Jackie & Laurie Show; on the latter show, as co-hosted with fellow comic/writer Laurie Kilmartin, the two talk about the thing they both love to do and think about: standup comedy. Kashian’s list of acclaimed comedy specials includes This Will Make An Excellent Horcrux, which was named one of Vulture’s best stand-up comedy specials of that year, and I Am Not The Hero Of This Story.

Kashian’s latest stand-up special is Stay-Kashian, which was released earlier this month via 800 Pound Gorilla Records (Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Whitney Cummings). A trailer related to Stay-Kashian is embedded below. On November 23, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kashian via Zoom about that special and plenty more, as embedded below. To me, Kashian’s success within comedy is inspiring as she simultaneously comes across as pleasant, hard-working, and devoted to her craft.
