Who’s Who of Radio Event

One can say it was a who’s who of radio and entertainment in Chicago last week at the Quarry Event Center. The formal installation of the new National President for the Indiana-Chicago Chapter,  Dinahlynn Biggs was sworn in by long time radio veteran Bernie Hayes. All hall of fame chapters are Non-Profit 503(c).

Dinahlynn let everyone know that we here in Chicago are ready to go to work. Industry professionals were on hand to receive awards and take part in joining the radio organization.  On hand was Richard Steele, Cliff Kelly, Terry Bishop, Gene Chandler, Ramonski Love, Reggie Miles, Cliff Curry, Gus Redmond, Al Greer, and a host of others to accept awards for the legacy of Herb Kent & Richard Pegue. The room was packed with industry veterans from St. Louis, Rockford, and Gary, IN. There were several radio stations with employees present at the event from WVON and 1370 AM WLTH Radio Gary, IN, where the Prime Minister of Blues served as host for the event Larry Jenkins.

Dinahlynn was humbled by the attendance of Independent /recording Artist that travelled there to witness her being sworn in.  In her years in the industry Dinahlynn is known worldwide for breaking new music and being the voice of the Independent Artist. Some guest like blues man Lonnie Givens, Sr. arrived in limo and formal attire with his entourage.  He said this is big and Chicago should represent with pride after all it is the 3rd biggest media market in the entire world.

There were live performances that shook the house by Independent Recording Artist Anthony M, who has tracks taking the airways by storm along with a closing by Chicago Native Author Sutton. Membership is open: You are eligible to join if you have worked in Radio or a related field worldwide, with over (5) five years experience.  Joining memorializes careers with the national Museum. (news, engineer, promotions, production, dj, anchor, on air talent, program director, sales, marketing, managers, record company, entertainment etc.)  The Quarry Event Center in Chicago donated the beautiful facility for the event.  Black-owned and operated by Evette Mayo as she was excited to be a part of the event. There were a lot of people that joined on the spot so the chapter is off to a great start.

Although Dinahlynn did appoint some members of the board, there are still open positions on the Board of Directors to be filled, Dinahlynn urges participation.  Open positions include: Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The chapter is accepting donations and there were souvenirs to help raise funds.
