Carol Zoccoli On Her New Album “Legal,” Doing Comedy In 2 Languages, Future Plans & More

Carol Zoccoli is a comedian, actor and writer who made her name in comedy in Brazil, later found success in Canada, and now resides in New York. She got her start writing jokes as a break from her Master’s thesis in Philosophy and never looked back. 6 months after her first stand-up performance, she was named by the Brazilian magazine Época a “Break out comic in São Paulo,” and in 2015 — in English — she was 1 of 8 finalists of Jokenation in 2015, an international comedy competition hold by Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland. She was also a finalist at Sway’s Comedy Search in 2016, a recipient of the 2015 Tim Sims Encouragement Award, and a Toronto Star cover story subject.

Zoccoli returned to Toronto to record her new stand-up album Legal. The album, as released by influential Canadian comedy label Comedy Records, is now available on all key streaming and downloading platforms. This makes Zoccoli a rostermate alongside other current comedy greats like Clare Belford, K. Trevor Wilson, Mark DeBonis, Adrienne Fish, Garrett Jamieson, and Forrest Shaw.

On January 25, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Carol Zoccoli via Zoom, as embedded below. More on Zoccoli, Comedy Records and Legal can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
