Stacie Charm: On A Mission

Tell me your whole inception into music — When did you first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for Stacie Charm?

Well growing up, I was always around my dad and late grandmother who threw parties and gatherings – almost every day – playing loud music. I began to write lyrics from the sounds of the instruments being played from the basement. I would write 16 bars to different instruments, and then go downstairs to perform them for their guests and they would be so proud screaming like I won a MTV music award [VMA]. Lol! Ever since then, rapping became a hobby…then it became a dream that my parents and grandparents didn’t agree with; they always said to have a plan b for a guaranteed career, but music and rapping is all I wanted…there was no plan b, so they didn’t like that.

Now you are a native of…where exactly? And growing up there, who all did / do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?

I am a native of Gary, Indiana, and growing up my biggest influencer was Michael Jackson considering he is from Gary, Indiana, also. Watching him dance all of these cool moves, and his creations and visuals in his music videos, were so awesome to me. I stood in front of the television dancing along with Mike any time I heard his voice.

That said, how do you classify your overall sound and / or style?

Well, my sound and style is totally unique. I don’t think anyone can compare my music and style to any other artists out there. I’ve always been different (or) as my peers would say, “weird.” Lol! I’m not your average female artist; my music is free spirit, meaning I talk about things that are fun and put people in good spirits. I want my music to attract all genres, all cultures. I’m not settling for one group of an audience. I want to be as big as Michael Jackson! I dance, I act and I’m an artist…and I plan on utilizing all of my talent to present to the world; not just the city…the world!

And, your latest single is entitled “Rokkstarr” — Tell me about this particular track? How did it come to fruition?

As far as “Rokkstarr,” I was literally looking for something totally different of what you hear and see from female rap artists. I’ve never heard a female rapper scream on a record, so I took that chance! I love rockstars; their style, behavior and visual is insane; they live free like they don’t have a care in the world.

Longevity, what do you feel it’ll be that’ll continue to sustain you in music?

Consistency, stability, faith, God as my guidance and expanding my knowledge as I go. I’m always willing to learn more, get more ideas. I want to drop a record that hits number one on the Billboard, and then next week drop another that hits number one and so forth.

What do you want people to get from your music?

I want people to feel good when they play my music. I want it to send positive messages. I want it to help those that struggle with any mentalities; motivate those that aren’t confident.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip Hop music? And even more specifically, women in rap?

First, let me salute everyone that is doing Hip Hop successfully today, but my honest opinion (is) no I’m not very happy with Hip Hop today. People can make music about anything now;  for example, stomping people in the ground, killing each other, saying what’s right or wrong and how to treat women or each other, you know? Hip Hop used to be about messages; you can play a song, nod your head, rap along on the highway, just put you in a great mood…now Hip Hop makes you change who you are and try to be something you’re not. Thinking that’s the only way to survive or get respected, doing whatever it takes to get others approval when there once was a time nobody cared what you did and how you did it. As far as women, I salute them all but there is a new sheriff in town!

Do you have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from music?

I do want to own my own restaurant because Stacie gets down in the kitchen! LOL! I also want to have my own fashion line because fashion is everything to me; my style is so unique in the fashion department. I get compliments literally every time I walk out of my house about my appearance or what I’m wearing.

To date, what has been your greatest career achievement(s), at least thus far anyway?

Well, my biggest achievement thus far was winning a slot to open up for artists such as Asian Doll and Fredo Bang, etcetera, all the way in South Carolina…and that’s big for me considering I’ve never really been away from Indiana. I was so excited for a new scenery and new people, and it was such a blessing; the crowd was so supportive and they loved Stacie…they wanted more, and I wanted to give it (my) all.

Finally, what’s next for Stacie Charm?

The next thing for Stacie is to keep making music, pitching it to Spotify and come up with a great visual to promote to viewers. To try and get the acknowledgement I’ve been urging because the world will see and get to know Stacie Charm, and that’s a guaranteed! That is my mission, and I won’t stop or give up until it is accomplished.

Is there anything I left out, or just plain forgot to mention?

Not at all, Todd, I appreciate your work and taking the time out to get to know Stacie, and giving me that opportunity to help wake the people up! Getting them prepared for a game changer.

Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?

I just want you all to know that no matter what you want to do in life, go for it! Don’t stop, don’t get discouraged…keep going. You will get what you want, just walk by faith because I am. You all will see Stacie Charm, and I will manifest that. I will be as big as Michael Jackson very soon. Stay safe, walk by faith and God bless.
