Who is Jada Simone?

Rising Savannah R&B artist Jada Simone first gained an online following through her viral car videos of her remixing covers of popular songs via Instagram. Jada’s covers quickly became viral amassing over 200,000 views per video.

After receiving global recognition and acknowledgement from some of her favorite R&B artist, Jada had become a popular artist. As her Instagram following grew, so did the demand for covers and original music. Jada began writing her own music and composing original songs at the age of 18. By the age of 20, Jada had wrote over 300 songs, many of which were written for artist in the music industry.

The high demand for more content drew Jada to start composing original pieces of music for herself. Drawing inspiration from classic soul musicians that have paved the way (namely Etta James and Nina Simone) The singer/songwriter’s music captures different audiences from R&B to Modern Soul.

Hype: Tell us about your background, what have you gotten to where you are today?

JS: I have been singing since the age of 4. In 2017, I grew a huge Instagram buzz through my viral car videos where I would sing remixes of hit songs. I’ve always had a love for writing. I started making original music, working with the best producers, and really finding and mastering my sound. Jada Simone is in front of you today because of the long hours I’ve put in to perfect my sound. I’m so humbled to be recognized for that work.

Hype: Where are you from?

JS: Savannah, GA

Hype: When did you start music?

JS: I’ve been singing since the age of 4, but I began writing music at the age of 16. I would post freestyle videos in my car remixing the newest songs that would all go viral.

Hype. How did you get into music?

JS: Since I was 4 I knew I had a gift. By middle school, I was the lead singer for every chorus concert the school would have, and by high school, I became the designated person to sing the National Anthem for each senior graduation. My senior year of high school I was able to write and lead the very first class song which led me to write original pieces and remixes. That’s how I got here today.

Hype: What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

JS: Overcoming fear. Fear can consume us if we allow it, be that the fear of rejection, the fear of failing, the fear of not being good enough. It can create a myriad of negative thoughts. I overcame that fear when I realized I will accomplish very little if I let fear control my life.

Hype: Are you currently signed or independent?

JS: Independent!

Hype: Who inspires you the most musically?

JS: I love old soulful music. Etta James has always been one of my favorite artist as well as Nina Simone. Both of these artist inspired me musically because I always felt like my voice was different but so closely related to their sound.

Hype: What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

JS: I’m telling someone’s story. I’m more than a singer, I’m a storyteller, an author, a therapist, your intuition. I want everyone to base my music off of their own personal experiences. I intentionally allow all of my songs to create a story.

Hype: Any new music coming out soon?

JS: Yes. Stay tuned for my newest single featuring another extremely talented artist out of ATL. Also, my very first EP which I plan to release summer 2022.

Hype: What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

Following my dreams and never giving up despite difficult times. That may sound cliché but I’ve had challenges like over coming fear, rejection, feeling inadequate, insecure, and other trials I that could have easily allowed to deter me. I could have gave up on my dreams and took a much “safer route” but I didn’t. I’m still here, and going after everything that I’ve always desired.

Hype: Do you produce your own music? If not, who do you work with?

JS: I don’t produce my own music right now and I work with a in house producer named Steve who has really become a huge part of my team.

Hype: Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

JS: I would really like to work with H.E.R. I’ve watched her growth from her YouTube days before fame & always admired her voice. To see where she is now is amazing and inspiring.

Hype: Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

JS: My single Lies Cry will be releasing in a month. It’s about a guy breaking a woman’s heart but realizing his mistakes after it’s far too late.

Hype: What does a day inside your shoes look like?

JS: Zoom meetings, FaceTime calls with my team, creating new content, studio sessions, writing seminars, arguments and disagreements lol. I love to stay busy and I’m so thankful for my team because they don’t let me rest. It’s a lot of hard work we are all pouring into this. But, I’m sitting down with The Source, so I guess it’s all paying off.

Hype: Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

JS: I’m next up. See y’all soon xoxo.
