0Evan Holyfield On The New Docu-Series “Legacy: In The Shadow Of Greatness,” Father Evander, Future Plans, Hobbies & More
The son of former heavyweight world champion, Evan Holyfield is undoubtedly ready to follow in his father’s footsteps. A rising star in the world of boxing, Holyfield has lived most of his life in Atlanta, Georgia. He boxed as an amateur for 9 years with a diverse resume of national tournament accolades. Holyfield at 22 years old, made his professional debut in one of boxing’s most hallowed venues, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He is currently undefeated as a pro — carrying a record of 9-0 — and is signed with the Main Events promotion company, fighting as a super-welterweight at 154 pounds.
Directed by Emmy Award Winner Jonathan Hock (30 For 30, Through The Fire, The Lost Son Of Havana), Legacy: In The Shadow Of Greatness is a six-part docuseries following the athletic pursuits of the children of sports icons. This not only includes Evan Holyfield, but also the children of Dwyane Wade and Randall Cunningham as they attempt to make their own mark on the world. The Discovery+ series was released to digital platforms this month, capturing most of Holyfield’s boxing career to date.
On March 17, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Evan Holyfield — also known as “Yung Holy” — via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Legacy: In The Shadow Of Greatness, we spoke about future career plans for him and plenty more. More on Legacy can be found here, here and here.
