Tyson Fury v Francis Ngannou: What, Where, When and Why

Tyson Fury is the star of the talented Team Fury camp, which includes the world heavyweight champion’s brother, Tommy, and cousin Hughie. Describing themselves as fighting men from good stock, they are members of the United Kingdom’s traveler community, and the closeness of the tribe was evident in a recent Netflix documentary on Tyson. Despite being a multi-millionaire with several properties and businesses, the series tracked the WBC champion’s family life, background, training, and enduring love for the traveler lifestyle.

Team Fury may boast several fighting men and respected professional fighters, but Tyson and Tommy have upcoming bouts that ruffled a few feathers in the industry. Tyson faces UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia live on TNT Sports. The exhibition bout to find the baddest man on the planet, pairing a heavyweight boxing champion and a heavyweight MMA champion, is on October 28.

If that cross-discipline bout, similar to Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather, wasn’t enough to upset the boxing faithful, brother Tommy is back in the ring with another YouTube fighter. The cruiserweight, fresh from handing Jake Paul his first loss as a professional boxer, fights KSI in Manchester this weekend. The leading gambling apps offering NBA gambling to betting on the NFL cover these intriguing bouts.

Fury v Ngannou information

Tyson Fury v Francis Ngannou

Saturday, October 28

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Live on TNT Box Office

While some boxing fans may be unwilling to pay Box Office or Pay-Per-View prices to watch their champion face an MMA fighter in his first boxing bout, the contest will likely generate billions of dollars for all involved.

Tommy’s meeting with fellow Brit KSI will also be popular, with huge sales expected thanks to KSI’s army of followers on YouTube and social media. The weekend contest will be live on DAZN pay-per-view, with the added expense likely to scare off many of the noble art’s most dedicated followers.

The best online bookies offer a double on Tyson and Tommy to win by knockout in the first round, which will be popular with followers looking to cash in on the occasion. If Tyson and brother Tommy are fighting fit and bring their best performances, as we expect them as professionals, they have the skills and power to score early stoppage wins.

Gypsy King’s recent form

Tyson Fury travels to Saudi Arabia for the latest leg of a fascinating career with a professional boxing CV detailing 33 wins, no defeats, and a draw. The number one-ranked heavyweight in the world faces fellow top-division champion Oleksandr Usyk in a winner-takes-all unification bout. Still, the Englishman assures fans he’s not looking beyond Ngannou and the dangers the MMA champion brings. Tyson aims to blast Francis in the most unfriendly, friendly fight ever seen before returning to business mode and dismantling Oleksandr.

Victory against the Ukranian would earn Fury all available belts and crown him the unified champion and greatest of the modern heavyweight era. The only slight blot on his copybook was a draw with the Bronze Bomber Deontay Wilder in the first bout of their trilogy. Despite dominating the contest and building a lead on the scorecards, Wilder sent Fury to the canvas twice in the later rounds to help level the scores. Although many believed Tyson had done enough to win following his earlier good work, the draw wasn’t an unfair decision given the two 10-8 rounds.

Fury responded by fighting Wilder twice more, and he left nothing to chance in those clashes, winning both by knockout inside the distance. Following his most recent TKO win over Wilder, Fury has boxed twice and won twice, scoring a pair of knockouts. He downed Dillian Whyte inside six rounds at Wembley before settling an old score with Derek Chisora with a TKO in the tenth. Can we expect more of the same in his return to the ring?

No early night

Digging deeper into Fury’s stats, hoping to find a clue to help our predictions, we note Tyson’s last five outings have all progressed beyond the halfway stage.

The last time he stopped an opponent in the contest’s first half was Tom Schwarz at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, in 2019. Those stats should be enough to put boxing lovers off predicting an early night for Fury, although we must remember he’s not fighting an experienced boxer.

Looking beyond the Fury v Ngannou exhibition, fight fans, pundits, and bookies are more interested in the unification bout between Fury and Usyk. The Englishman is the pre-fight favorite, with his size and strength expected to make the difference.
