UFC Star Dustin Poirier On His Work With HOP WTR, Other Ventures He Has, Future Plans, Music, Betting, TV & More

UFC star Dustin Poirier can be simply described as a top American professional mixed martial artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist. A former Interim UFC Lightweight Champion, the man known as “The Diamond” had many millions of people watching him when he defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 264. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Good Fight Foundation — which Poirier co-founded with wife Jolie — donated 1,000 meals to the employees of three major hospitals around his native Lafayette, Louisiana. Further speaking to his on-going commitment towards giving back in a big way, in 2020 Poirier was awarded the Forrest Griffin Community Award by UFC for his charity work.

Last month it was announced that Dustin Poirier was partnering with HOP WTR, the non-alcoholic sparkling hop water crafted with crisp, bold hops and mood-boosting ingredients. As a brand ambassador and a part-owner, the power pairing was fostered by Poirier’s affinity for the beverage, particularly during more intense training periods when the UFC lightweight embraces the positive “power of no,” or more specifically, “no alcohol, no calories, no carbs, no gluten and no sugar.” With flavors in Classic, Blood Orange, Mango and newly released Lime, HOP WTR’s proprietary blend of stress-busting hops, adaptogens and nootropics punch up healthy benefits while offering a taste experience that is crisp, light and satisfying. Per HOP WTR co-founder Jordan Bass in a prepared statement: “Dustin is one of the most powerful and elite athletes in the country, so it’s a huge honor to have his backing of HOP WTR. Not just a rock star in the ring, Dustin is also a good human and a great dad. He is the embodiment of why we created HOP WTR in the first place; a tasty and satisfying alternative to alcohol that allows us to be more potent and present in all of our life roles.”

On March 16, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dustin Poirier via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond his work with HOP WTR, we spoke about his hot sauces with Heartbeat Hot Sauce Co., whether or not he bets on sports, whether or not “Diamond” has tried Diamond Dallas Page’s DDPY program, what music he prefers when training, what he is watching on television these days, and a few other topics. More on Poirier and HOP WTR can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
