Marxoxo is the bratty air-pop project of independent trans Filipina artist, Mar. Marxoxo’s writing pulls inspiration from personal drama, dreams, and diaries, snuggling lightly between the hyperpop of Charli XCX and innocence of Britney Spears. But more than that, it’s a juxtaposition of identities, reconciling growing up in a humble hick town with proudly growing into herself.

Cult popstar Marxoxo casts an angelic spell in new airy-pop bop “Anywayz.” The R&B- inspired song was originally written as a “self guided meditation to tune out the noise and hone my diligence,” said the artist. Between the soothing synths and bouncing 808s, Marxoxo’s falsetto coos their tenets of self empowerment and ambition. With bratty lyricism that echoes Tinashe and angelic dream pop harmonies reminiscent of Yeule, she preaches resilience by “shaking it off like I am Mariah Carey.”

The release comes coupled with a choreographed music video featuring Marxoxo waking up in an impressionist dream world before breaking the simulation into the pop world.
