Friends, Family and Former Teammates Remember Marion Barber III

Marion Barber III past away on June 1st in Frisco, Texas. Also known as MBIII by his former teammates and coaches was celebrated at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on the campus where he played college football.

His smile is something that was remembered by former Minnesota Golden Gophers coach Glen Mason. The coach would also share the story on how he recruited Barber as a defensive back. Barber would end up winning over his running backs coach and would be become a historic rusher for the Gophers. Both Laurence Maroney and Barber would be a force to reckon with both on and off the field. Maroney would admit that Barber was more like a brother to him.

Former Dallas Cowboys came to the stage with heavy hearts and positive messages of their fallen teammate. Terrell Owens visibly shaken and had shared that he was shaken to the core by his untimely death.

Dom Barber’s broken and heartfelt speech reached the people in attendance by sharing his hurt. Dom Barber reminded us how Marion Barber loved people and his life.

The Sounds of Blackness soothed the mood both before and after the Celebration of Life. Gary Hines lifted all of us.
