AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa On Her Upcoming Appearances With Combate Global, Career Plans, MMA & More

Combate Global — previously known as “Combate Americas” — is the premier Hispanic MMA sports franchise, rapidly becoming the #2 sport after soccer for Spanish speaking fans worldwide. It is the only MMA property regularly airing on broadcast television in both the U.S. (via Univision) and Mexico (via Televisa). In 2021, Combate Global partnered with CBS Sports to distribute its live shows in English in the U.S. on Paramount+. The company’s programming is available in over 70 countries globally. Campbell McLaren, Combate Global’s CEO, was notably also the co-founder and creator of the UFC.

Last month, Combate Global announced the return of Melissa “Thunder Rosa” Cervantes to Combate Global, only this time as a color commentator. This return will take place at Combate’s live events on Friday, July 15, 2022 and Friday, July 22, 2022, which will take place in Miami, Florida and stream live via Paramount+. Thunder Rosa will join Combate Global play-by-play announcer Max Bretos and color analyst Rodolfo Roman in the television booth and help call the live action in La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage. Per Combate Global CEO Campbell McLaren in a prepared statement: “We are looking forward to bringing Thunder Rosa back to Combate Global for the first time since she fought for us in 2019, and having her call Much More Action from our television booth.”

On June 28, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Thunder Rosa via Zoom, as embedded below. More on the AEW Women’s Champion — also a successful YouTuber with a popular taco vlog — and her work with Combate Global can be found online by clicking here, here, here and here.
