Below are some excerpts from the interview.

Award Winning Journalist – Landon Buford

CM: What made you eager to pursue the arts? Was it passion or something inadvertent?

LB: I knew I wouldn’t make my hoop dreams a reality at a young age. So, instead of lying to myself that I would make the NBA, I elected to see how I could still attempt to make it in the sports space by becoming a reporter.

CM: You are decorated, having written for Forbes, The Hype Magazine, Sports Illustrated, and several other leading outlets. What has been your most memorable achievement to date, and why?

LB: My most memorable achievement is probably helping to crash The Hype Magazine’s server three-time in 72 hours after aggregating LeBron James’ rollout of the Los Angeles Lakers announcement tied into the Space Jam 2 trailer reported by Bally Sports Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson in 2018.

CM: Still on the subject of “memorable “things, what has stood out most to you but for the wrong reasons during your career?

LB: I cannot think of anything that stood out for the wrong reasons!

CM: What about your industry would you want to change if you had the sovereign ability to do so?

LB: What I would like to change about my industry would be more outlets to express individuals’ talents as journalists and content creators so these individuals can make an honest living. There are only so many outlets left because the industry is slowly dying off.

CM: On a lighter note, what have been some funniest encounters you experienced in your various fields as a multi-genre journalist?

LB: At this moment in time, I can’t really think of an experience where it would be considered a funny encounter that I experienced.

CM: Do you like the direction journalism has been taking with the increased propagation of social media platforms used to convey news? If so, kindly give us some insight.

LB: Social media allows individuals to share the news and enable others to put on a façade that might not necessarily be the truth. So, I feel it is a double-edged sword if it can be beneficial for those in journalism for the right reason but can also be the opposite for someone looking for clout and fame.

CM: What are you most critical of when it comes to your work, and have you ever battled imposter syndrome, considering the magnitude of the stellar feats you have reached?

LB: At the beginning of my career, when I lost jobs because of budget or lost bylines in general, I questioned my abilities several times. However, once I learned it wasn’t my abilities and it was out of my control, that’s when I started planning out how I was going to start my brand just in case I was in between jobs or gigs; I would have a backup plan and not be left twiddling my thumbs.
