Byron Allen’s ‘The Grio’ Goes Live With Panelists and Podcasts At National Association Of Black Journalists Convention & Career Fair In Las Vegas

 Allen Media Group’s Black news/entertainment media platform the Grio, proudly brings a panel discussion featuring premier talent, a live-to-tape recording of two podcasts, and other important news to the 2022 National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas starting Friday, August 5, 2022.

The session will include a discussion of Byron Allen’s recent acquisition and rebranding of Black News Channel (BNC). Scheduled for Friday, August 5th at 3:30 pm PT, Geraldine Moriba, Senior Vice President of News and Entertainment for theGrio will discuss exciting plans for the recently-launched the Grio Black Podcast Network (TGBPN), Byron Allen’s recent acquisition of BNC, and new plans to integrate BNC into the top-rated the Grio platform. In addition, Moriba will be joined by a panel of notable TGBPN hosts, including Touré, Michael Harriot, Panama Jackson, and Maiysha Kai, to discuss Black culture, its role in the power of podcasting, and how the podcast hosts hone their special craft. The not to be missed event will be moderated by the Grio’s Vice President of Digital Content for theGrio, Natasha Alford. The animated 90-minute session will also include live-to-tape episode recordings of two new TGBPN podcasts: Dear Culture With Panama Jackson and Writing Black With Maiysha Kal Special surprise guests will also make appearances.

A new twist on a legacy podcast, Dear Culture With Panama Jackson explores provocative cultural questions such as “Janet vs. Michael,” Lauryn Hill’s music career, and Brandy’s position as the vocal bible among other topics. Host Panama Jackson invites listeners to engage, share stories, expertise, and information, and weigh in on issues such as the Blackest song of all time. Panama Jackson’s guest will be fellow TGBPN podcast host, Michael Harriot.

In Writing Black With Maiysha Kai, Grammy-winner Maiysha Kai invites writers from across the Black diaspora to center their literature for future generations. Guests will include Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa, journalists at The Washington Post and co-authors of the critically-acclaimed biography His Name Is George Floyd.

The session will conclude with POWER TO THE PODCAST – a behind-the-curtain look at how the panelists developed their podcasts, insights on breaking through the noise, best practices and podcasting tips and why each chose TGBPN as their podcasting platform.
