Live Session with Celebrated Journalist Touré
Live Session with best-selling author, writer, and podcaster, Touré (@toureshow) regarding his new show Masters of The Game on Byron Allen’s, theGrio. He is also well known for his work on “The Cycle” on MSNBC, “Hip Hop Shop” on Fuse, “The Black Carpet” on BET, “I’ll Try Anything Once” on Treasure HD, and “Spoke N Heard” on MTV, and as the FIRST Pop Culture correspondent on CNN. Touré is also a frequent contributor at The Daily Beast and serves on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominating Committee.
Masters of The Game airs original episodes every last Friday of the month at 8P ET/PT on theGrio’s cable channel. Subsequent airings are available on demand and on theGrio’s streaming service via the free app.
In Masters of The Game, Touré brings us one-on-one interviews with living legends in an intimate setting. Touré and his special guests discuss their crafts and roads to success. The first episode featured a deep dive with Frances Tiafoe, renowned tennis superstar and recent U.S. Open semi-finalist as well as Jennifer King, the first Black woman to be a coach in the NFL (with the Washington Commanders). “I’m honored that theGrio has given me this opportunity to talk to the most successful Black people around and to help us all learn from their brilliance. Our conversations will tell us how they became masters of the game,” said Touré in a statement. He continued, “After doing interviews for over 25 years, these are some of the biggest ones I have ever done. I’m looking forward to sharing these conversations with our audience.”
My conversation with Touré did not last long enough for me to be honest. This amazing hero of journalism was completely transparent about his why for doing what he does; entertaining in describing his defining moment for stepping into the media world, and insightful on what makes him a Master of The Game when it comes to interviews. Of course, we got into a detailed discussion about his journey and how he sees this opportunity with Masters of The Game as an amazing platform to celebrate and share the brilliance of some of Black Culture’s great achievers.
