Billboard-Charting Gospel Artist Cheston Green Advocates for Black Men’s Mental Health with #OhMyBrother

Rates of suicide among Black youth have risen faster than in any other racial/ethnic group in the past two decades, with suicide rates in Black males 10-19 years old increasing by 60% (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry). As we approach Black History Month, this striking statistic is worthy of amplification as the disparities young black men face can seem insurmountable. Many of these obstacles are tied to the need for access to mental health care, financial and educational resources, and communities that empower them to speak openly about their feelings. Billboard-charting Gospel Recording Artist Cheston Green has resolved to take up this mission as an advocate for mental health, inspired by his own battles with depression as a young man.

Fueled by his passion for empowering men, his organization, #OhMyBrother, is creating a safe space for Christian men to find support, enrichment and empowerment. Cheston Green is a born-again Christian, praise and worship leader, recording artist, and songwriter originally from North Carolina. Now based in Baltimore, Green has transmuted his passion for youth and knack for mentorship into several charitable and cultural community organizations. In addition to co-founding Single, Saved, and Social, Cheston’s #OhMyBrother movement has created a sanctuary for men to grow and impact our communities.

“My personal struggles with depression showed me the importance of having positive male role models to guide young men toward open dialogue, healthy responses, and coping mechanisms. #OhMyBrother seeks to take this a step further by giving them a foundation of faith to lean on as they face the real struggles of life,” expressed Green.

Cheston holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Green’s music releases such as “Hosana,” “Identity RMX,” and “Show Me” have been met with critical acclaim.
