In the Groove with GFive: An Exclusive Interview

In this exclusive interview with GFive, we meet an embodiment of resilience, passion, and creativity in the ever-evolving music industry. Beyond his riveting journey as an artist, he’s a business owner, managing his own label, Juug Money Music Group LLC. Prepare to be inspired as we dive into the compelling narrative of his life, the stirring motivation behind his music, and his relentless pursuit of success.

GFive! Great to catch up with you. Could you give us a glimpse into your life and journey as an artist with your label, Juug Money Music Group LLC?

Appreciate you having me. Well, my journey has been filled with highs and lows, but it’s music and self-belief that have been the guiding forces. I’ve been through some tough times, even facing incarceration twice, first in 2007 when I was just 17, and then again in 2011. But after my release in 2013, I decided it was time to channel all my experiences, all my energy into my passion—music. So, I started my own label, Juug Money Music Group LLC. Since then, it’s been a steady, uphill journey.

As an artist and a business owner, what is the vision you have for your label, Juug Money Music Group LLC?

Juug Money Music Group LLC is an embodiment of my passion for music. My vision for it is to create a platform for real, authentic music. A place where artists can express their true experiences without compromise. I want it to resonate with listeners worldwide and inspire them just as I have been inspired.

Your recent single “Important” and the album “P.O.T.T. (Product Of Trap)” have been setting the charts ablaze. Can you share the spark that lit these creations?

“Important”, and indeed the entire album, are essentially snapshots of my life. Each song is a vignette, a slice of the trap, echoing my past, my resilience, and my dreams. I’ve crafted this music for every soul that’s tasted struggle, and I hope it serves as a beacon, lighting the way ahead.

We hear that there’s a new hit on the horizon from GFive – “Infatuated” from the upcoming Bag Music 3. Could you tell us a little about this exciting development?

I’m thrilled to announce that “Infatuated”, produced by Drummajai, is the latest addition to my upcoming project, Bag Music 3. It’s an explosive track, created with passion, grit, and, of course, a love for the craft. I’m eager for it to reach the listeners. The track is set to drop on all platforms on August 1st.

We’d love to know more about your journey. What role did music play in your early life?

Music has always been my lifeblood. I remember, as a kid, that my brother and I would battle each other, creating songs and rap skits. Those early experiences sparked my passion and laid the groundwork for my future career. Despite my father’s murder when I was just five, my mother’s strength and my uncles’ encouragement kept me going and shaped me into the artist I am today.

You faced a life-altering event in 2021, being shot eight times. Can you share how this adversity fueled your motivation and shaped your music and your outlook on life?

That incident was a major turning point. It showed me there are people who want to stop me from achieving success. Instead of giving in, it spurred me to go harder than ever. Every bullet just served as a grim reminder of the stakes and pushed me to reach higher in my career.

With your extensive discography, could you share with us the consistent message that listeners can expect across your work?

Across my music, there’s a consistent theme of life’s reality—the struggles, the ups and downs, and the strength required to rise above it all. From my earliest tapes like “Trap Skool” and “All The Way 100,” hosted by DJ B Eazy, to my more recent projects like “Bag Music,” “Bag Music 2,” “Flexin On Purpose,” “Rude Awakening,” and “Hustle Music,” I’ve always wanted my music to be more than just entertainment. It’s therapy for the mind, providing motivation for those feeling low and serving as inspiration for those on the rise.

What keeps you motivated and determined to overcome daily challenges in your field?

My belief in myself and my goals keep me motivated. I face challenges every day, but I stay solid through them all, knowing they’re just stepping stones to success. Prayer is my secret weapon. My faith keeps me grounded, and I believe that without God, we can do nothing.

What advice would you share with budding artists wrestling with challenges and roadblocks?

Treat ‘no’ as a detour, not a dead end. Keep your self-belief alive, irrespective of the odds. Remember, challenges are the sandpaper that smoothens your path to success.

Last but not least, where can your fans catch up with you online and stay tuned to your latest releases?

My fans can sync up with me on Instagram @audiboyg5. I keep them in the loop about my latest releases and personal journeys on this platform.

We’re pulling the curtain down on our insightful chat with GFive. His tale is a potent reminder that tenacity, self-belief, and persistence can strum a melody that reverberates far and wide. As GFive charts his future course, we eagerly anticipate the music that he will gift us next. Stay tuned, and stay inspired!
