What inspired you to create “Bae’s Favorite Album” and take your listeners through the ups and downs of a relationship?
The inspiration was truly the good and bad of a relationship. Making an album for a significant other was very important to me. I wanted this album to help couples, and if you don’t have someone, I hope it points you in the right direction.
How does the Twan Green personal touch make this album unique and relatable to your audience?
By putting my all into it. Making sure the listeners get as much of me as they can. I wanted to be vulnerable.
Could you elaborate on your “hybrid” music style and how it is showcased in this album?
I can’t really describe my style, but my manager JT always says I have a hybrid style. He says because I’m from Atlanta and live in Pittsburgh, I have a mixture of both of those cities in my music. Also, the way I make R&B and rap music and can switch back and forth song to song or even in the same song. And we’ve spent hours and hours in the studio together, so he has a good feel for my music. So whatever he says, I can vouch for that.
As a 90s baby, why do you believe R&B was at its peak during that era, and how does that influence your music?
Looking back at how I said that before, it actually might have been at its peak in the 70s with artists like Teddy Pendergrass, Lenny Williams, and Marvin Gaye. My dad grew up in the 70s and he played a lot of those songs for me, so the soul has always been in me. And I’m thankful for that. But the 90s has been very influential to me with artists like Usher, Jagged Edge, 112.
What can listeners expect from your first major release, both musically and thematically?
The listeners can expect to be taken somewhere as if they’re reading a novel with the words jumping off the page. If they really listen, they can expect to get lost in it like they’re in a trance. This album also shows how I hear music, so they get to experience my original sound.
How has your experience working with Ball Out Productions differed from your previous label, OMU Entertainment/LW?
The Ball Out Productions and OMU Entertainment/LW relationships are similar. OMU/LW were moving into different avenues and put me at the forefront of the music. So I linked up with JT and Ball Out Productions, and the rest is history.
What do you hope to achieve with “Bae’s Favorite Album,” and how does it represent a milestone in your artistic journey?
I hope to gain a lifetime fan base and finally have an album that, in my opinion, has solidified me as a solo artist.
Can you tell us about your work ethic and how it has shaped your career as an artist?
My work ethic in the studio has shaped me into a great artist. My work ethic is 10 for 10 when I’m in the studio. I know I can go harder in other areas like content creation, but every day is an opportunity to get better at my craft.
Are there any specific tracks or moments on the album that hold significant meaning to you? If so, could you share the stories behind them?
“Hardheaded” holds special meaning because I have a 14-year-old son, and at the moment, we’re not speaking as much as I would like to. I hope he hears it and it makes him want to call me. “Yesterday” resonates with couples because we’ve all been through that moment of not expressing love before parting ways, and I want people to remember to tell their loved ones how much they love them before going out into the world. “Tattoo” is one of those songs I enjoyed making, and the words speak for themselves.
How do you envision your music and artistry evolving in the future, and what can we expect from you in the coming years?
I just hope to continue to get better and want to keep shocking people and impressing them. I plan to get bigger, better, greater songs and projects. I’m trying to tackle all entertainment.
