0Wyatt Pike On Playing This Year’s Park City Song Summit, Life After “American Idol,” Songwriting, Musical Influences & More
Although now only in his early 20s, Wyatt Pike has been performing live for over 7 years. In 2019, Pike made the decision to withdraw from business school just days before his scheduled departure and pursue a career within the entertainment business. He would ultimately volunteer as a radio DJ, interning for Park City, Utah’s Mountain Town Music, and be accepted into the Berklee College Of Music. Additionally, Pike released his debut EP Brand New Boy around this time.
While being part of American Idol would define the career of many artists, it turns out to only be a blip on the radar for Wyatt Pike, who reached the show’s top 16 before opting to withdraw from competition. His first comment on his departure echoed Luke Bryan’s prediction that Pike was going to “be able to do music for the rest of his life.” Since then, Pike has relocated to Los Angeles, and has been steadily touring, writing and recording new music; “Deep Blue,” “You Are The Best Things” and “Hearts” were singles released by him in 2022, as currently available via all key streaming platforms.
On August 18, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Wyatt Pike via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about his future plans for his career, his upcoming participation in Park City, Utah’s Park City Song Summit, musical influences and songwriting. More on Pike can be found here, here and here.
